NCAA Game Summary - Kansas State at Baylor

(Saturday, February 15th)

Final Score: Baylor 87, Kansas State 73 (2OT)

Waco, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Kenny Chery had a triple-double, finishing with 20 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds to lead the Baylor Bears to an 87-73 double-overtime victory over the Kansas State Wildcats in a Big 12 Conference matchup at the Ferrell Center.

For the Bears (16-9, 4-8 Big 12), Cory Jefferson led the way with a double- double, scoring 21 and pulling down 11 rebounds, while Isaiah Austin added 18 points and Taurean Price chipped in with 12 points, as Baylor snapped a four- game home skid, their longest in nine years.

Nino Williams paced the Wildcats (17-8, 7-5) with 20 points, while Marcus Foster finished with 18 points and 10 assists, and Thomas Gipson scored 12.

Kansas State shot 46.4 percent from the field in the first half, including 2- of-9 from 3-point range. The Wildcats finished the half on a 12-6 run and took a 30-21 lead into halftime. Baylor struggled from the field in the first, making just 26.7 percent of its shots from the field and just 2-of-14 from beyond the arc.

The Bears improved their shooting after the break, connecting on 46.2 percent but still had difficulty from deep, missing all but one of their seven 3-point tries. The Wildcats' shooting declined in the second half, as they hit just 35.5 percent and 1-of-5 from deep. Trailing by 10 with under eight to play in regulation, the Bears scored 10 straight points in a little over three minutes to knot the score at 51-51. The Wildcats scored the next five points to retake the lead and still led by three, 57-54, before Brady Heslip drained a 3- pointer at the buzzer to force overtime.

In the first extra session, the teams traded leads with neither team going ahead by more than three. After Foster made 1-of-2 free-throws to knot the score at 68-68, Chery had a chance to win it but his jumper at the horn was off the mark, sending the game to double-overtime.

In the second overtime, the Bears took complete control, scoring the first seven points and never looking back from there, eventually going up by as many as 12 en route to the comeback victory.

The Bears pulled down 54 rebounds to 40 for the Wildcats. The Bears also outscored the Wildcats at the free-throw line, 21-13.
