GAME NOTES: With only four games left in the regular season, the Marist Red Foxes will jostle for position in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference standings when they face off against the Saint Peter's Peacocks at the Yanitelli Center on Thursday night.

Marist may not have a chance at catching first-place Iona, but at 8-8 in league play, it could still earn itself a favorable seed in the MAAC Tournament. The Red Foxes have won five of their last six contests, but two of their next three games (vs. Iona, vs. Quinnipiac) are against teams above them in the standings.

Saint Peter's has the benefit of playing three of its final four games at home, but the Peacocks' are just 9-16 overall and 5-11 against the rest of the conference. A 74-64 loss to Quinnipiac last Sunday was their seventh setback in the last nine games. They visit Monmouth for their last road test next.

Led by a double-double from Adam Kemp (18 points, 11 rebounds), Marist took care of business with a 70-63 win against Saint Peter's back on Jan. 20. The Red Foxes have won five of the last six meetings to pull even in the all-time series at 21-21.

It took two overtimes, but Marist was able to knock off Monmouth, 96-92, on the road last Sunday. The game featured 14 ties and 13 lead changes, with the difference coming in Marist's scoring advantages from beyond the arc (45-21) and the free-throw line (21-15).

The Red Foxes are not normally so reliant on shooting from the perimeter, as they rank only fifth in the MAAC in 3-point field goal percentage (.346) and 3-pointers attempted (474). In terms of overall offensive efficiency, they are ninth in the league in both scoring (67 ppg) and field goal percentage (.403). Chavaughn Lewis (17.4 ppg) heads up the team's efforts at both ends of the court, leading in scoring, while grabbing two steals per game, the top mark in the conference. Khallid Hart (14.5 ppg), Jay Bowie (12 ppg) and Kemp (9.4 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 2 bpg) are all important contributors as well.

Despite an impressive double-double from Marvin Dominique (15 points, 14 rebounds), Saint Peter's didn't have enough in the tank to upset Quinnipiac on the road. The Peacocks only connected on 41.1 percent of their shots from the floor, compared to the 50 percent effort they allowed.

Saint Peter's is one of the few teams in the MAAC scoring at a lesser rate than the Red Foxes. The Peacocks are 10th in the league in both scoring (63.4 ppg) and field goal percentage (.401). Part of the issue is the inability to move the ball, with the team sitting 11th in the conference in assists (10.1 apg). Dominique (17 ppg, 8.8 rpg) is one of the most gifted frontcourt players in the MAAC, ranking third in rebounds and among the top-10 in scoring. However, Desi Washington (13.2 ppg), who shoots just 36.1 percent from the field, is the only other player averaging in double figures.

Dominique may have his hands full contending with Bowie and Kemp on the inside. That will put pressure of Washington and Trevis Wyche (8.8 ppg, 4 apg) to knock down shots from the backcourt. If Wyche recaptures the success he had against Quinnipiac (16 points), the Peacocks could survive.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Saint Peter's 67, Marist 63
