GAME NOTES: In what appears to be a major mismatch, the 17th-ranked Baylor Bears will host the Jackson State Tigers this evening.

Jackson State is in search of its first win, but the team hasn't even come close to tasting victory through the first two outings. Members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference, the Tigers fell to TCU by 24 points in the opener before dropping an embarrassing 80-39 decision to UCF on Monday.

Wins in back-to-back games to open the season has Baylor, a member of the Big 12 Conference, playing with an early swagger. After disposing of Grambling State by 35 points in the opener, the Tigers weren't nearly as dominant against La Salle on Tuesday, but the result was a 74-64 win nonetheless. Head coach Scott Drew continues to be without his best player, LaceDarius Dunn, who is expected to return from suspension next game.

Baylor has won all three of its previous meetings with Jackson State, including a 90-60 romp over the Tigers last season.

Through two outings, Jackson State's Jenirro Bush leads the team with 14.5 ppg, but his 39.1 percent shooting from the field leaves much to be desired. Tyrone Hanson, the only other double-digit scorer for the squad, is posting 11.0 ppg. It is hard to believe that Jackson State has been outplayed as badly as it has. The Tigers are shooting a mere 28.9 percent from the field while yielding 58.4 percent shooting to opponents. Against UCF, Jackson State finished 12-of-64 from the floor, pitiful by any standards. The club turned the ball over 16 times, was outrebounded by nine boards and played poor defense, permitting UCF to shoot 59.6 percent from the floor. Bush tallied 15 points in that affair, as he was the only Tiger to reach double figures in scoring.

In the 10-point victory over La Salle two days ago, Baylor got a tremendous performance from forward Quincy Acy. In 35 minutes of action, Acy poured in 25 points on 11-of-16 shooting from the floor, and he ripped down 11 rebounds as well. Perry Jones III also had 11 boards in the tilt, and he contributed 12 points as well. Rounding out a trio of double-digit scorers was Anthony Jones with 14 points, as the Bears shot 51.8 percent from the field to help overcome 22 turnovers. Baylor also earned a 39-31 rebounding advantage and forced 18 turnovers. In the victory over Grambling State, Acy tallied 20 points and 12 rebounds, and he seems poised for a tremendous season. When Dunn returns, this team will go to another level.

Baylor is a better team than Jackson State and will embarrass the Tigers. Acy will dominate the paint once again.
