GAME NOTES: The Davidson Wildcats look to continue their dominance over the Georgia Southern Eagles when the two square off for a Southern Conference clash at Hanner Fieldhouse.

Davidson has won 14 of the last 15 head-to-head meetings, and that includes an 82-52 victory when these teams met up on Jan. 25. The Wildcats own a 31-7 lead in the all-time series with Georgia Southern.

The Wildcats have hardly resembled the team that began the season 3-10, as they have reeled off seven straight wins and 10 of their last 11 overall. Most recently, they notched a 65-50 win over Furman last weekend. Davidson was scheduled to take on The Citadel on Wednesday, but severe winter weather forced that game to be moved to this Monday.

Georgia Southern enters this contest hoping to avoid a fourth consecutive loss. The Eagles hosted UNCG two nights ago and were dealt a 68-56 loss. Following this tilt, they'll close out the regular season by playing three of their final four games on the road.

Davidson knocked down 11 3-pointers (.379) in its win over Furman. The Wildcats also held a 32-22 rebounding advantage, yielded only two offensive boards all game, and forced 19 Paladins turnovers. After building a nine-point halftime lead, they were able to pull away behind a 59-percent shooting effort from the floor in the second stanza. Tyler Kalinoski led the way with 14 points, followed by Brian Sullivan with 13, Tom Droney with 11, and Chris Czerapowicz with 10. Top scorer and rebounder De'Mon Brooks (18.4 ppg, 7.1 rpg) played only 18 minutes and finished with eight points as he battled foul trouble. Along with Brooks, Sullivan (12.6 ppg), Kalinoski (11.3 ppg, 5.1 rpg) and Droney (11.2 ppg) are also averaging double figures on the season.

Georgia Southern boasts the SoCon's top scorer in Jelani Hewitt, a 35.1- percent 3-point shooter (66-of-188) who is averaging 20.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. Fellow guard Tre Bussey (15.7 ppg) is shooting at a 39.3- percent clip from the perimeter (48-of-122), although no other player is averaging double figures for GSU. That lack of scoring balance certainly played a role in the Eagles' recent loss to UNCG, as they shot just 31 percent from the floor as a team and made only 13-of-25 free throws (.520). Hewitt turned in a particularly dreadful performance as he shot just 2-of-16 from the floor and finished with nine points in 35 minutes. Bussey and Brian Holmes shared team-high scoring honors with 12 points apiece, while Angel Matias scored 10 and pulled down 11 rebounds, but it was not enough for GSU to avoid another loss.

After a rough start to the season, Davidson is back on its familiar perch atop the SoCon standings. The Wildcats have the clear edge in this matchup, and they should be able to win this one on the road.
