GAME NOTES: Two days after a heartbreaking loss, the Murray State Racers hit the road for an Ohio Valley Conference matchup against the Tennessee State Tigers.

On Thursday, the Racers were able to steal an inbounds pass with 3.5 seconds remaining, but T.J. Sapp's 3-point attempt at the buzzer bounced off the back rim, giving Belmont a hard-fought 99-96 victory. Despite the loss, Murray State still sits atop the East Division with an 8-2 league mark.

Cameron Payne led all scorers with 29 points for Murray State, adding four rebounds and five assists in the loss. Jarvis Williams recorded a double- double with 21 points and 13 rebounds, and Sapp tacked on 20 points off the bench. Dexter Fields tallied 15 points, and Jonathan Fairell grabbed 11 boards, as Murray State saw its three-game win streak come to an end.

Payne, Sapp, Williams and Jeffery Moss all score in double digits on the season, with Payne's 15.4 ppg leading the way. Williams averages a double- double with 14.0 points and 10.5 rebounds each time out, and Sapp is a 14.5 ppg contributor off the bench. Moss saw his output go down to 12.8 ppg after he was limited to four points on Thursday.

Tennessee State couldn't build off its win over Tennessee Tech last week, as it fell to Austin Peay 75-65 on Thursday. It was the eighth loss in the last nine games for the Tigers, who received a 20-point, 10-rebound effort from M.J. Rhett.

Kennedy Eubanks also registered a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards, while Patrick Miller tallied 17 points and five assists for the Tigers, who found themselves in an 18-point hole at halftime that was simply too big to overcome.

In a season wrought with disappointment for Tennessee State, Miller has been an extremely bright star, netting an average of 23.1 ppg on 43.4 percent shooting from the field. Miller's 102 assists is a team high, along with his 46 steals. Rhett is the only other TSU player to average double-digit scoring totals, checking in at 10.7 ppg with a team-best 8.8 rpg. Tennessee State is averaging 68.9 ppg, more than three points fewer that its opponents.

Murray State leads the all-time series with Tennessee State 48-16, and with the way the Tigers have been playing lately, coupled with the Racers pretty much chomping at the bit following Thursday's loss, expect a lopsided affair at the Gentry Center this evening.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Murray State 78, Tennessee State 60
