GAME NOTES: The George Washington Colonials put their 10-game home winning streak on the line tonight, as they host the La Salle Explorers in Atlantic 10 Conference play at the Smith Center.

GW has won four in a row overall, most recently a 75-69 triumph at George Mason this past Saturday. Kevin Larsen and Joe McDonald scored 14 points apiece. Isaiah Armwood added 12 points, and Maurice Creek (seven assists) and Patricio Garino each scored 11. The Colonials shot lights out in the second stanza as they were 18-of-27 from the floor.

The four-game A-10 win streak for GW is its longest in conference play since finishing the 2006-07 regular season with five straight league victories en route to the conference tournament title.

The Colonials are on the cusp of possibly joining the national rankings come next week with a win tonight plus a victory this Saturday at Dayton. They're moving forward without sophomore guard Kethan Savage, who is out up to two months with a broken bone in his left foot. GW has three current starters averaging double figures, led by Creek (14.3 ppg), who is shooting 39.1 percent from beyond the arc. Larsen (11.5 ppg) and Armwood (11.0 ppg, 7.8 rpg) are also part of the starting lineup. Larsen (.562) is among the top-10 in the conference in field goal percentage.

The Explorers will play their first game since La Salle basketball legend Tom Gola passed away on Sunday. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1975. The Explorers will wear a black memorial patch with the No. 15 on their uniforms for the remainder of the season.

La Salle suffered a 97-89 double-overtime loss at home to VCU last Saturday. Tyrone Garland led the Explorers with 30 points on 8-of-22 shooting from the floor. Tyreek Duren chipped in 15 points and Jerrell Wright netted 10 points. Steve Zack posted a double-double for the hosts with 11 points and 11 rebounds, which he accompanied with four blocked shots.

Zack (9.7 ppg, 9.7 rpg) paces the A-10 in double-doubles with 11 and ranks fifth nationally. It is the most double-doubles by a La Salle player since Rasual Butler had 12 in 2001-02. Garland (14.8 ppg), Duren (14.3 ppg) and Wright (12.3 ppg) are part of a team that averages 70.8 ppg, but gives up only 68.9 ppg.

Even though the Colonials lead the all-time series, 20-15, La Salle has won the last five meetings. In the first encounter of the season, the Explorers came away with a 76-72 win at home on Jan. 9. Mills scored 17 points to lead the hosts, while Garino and Armwood each hit for 15. The Colonials shot just 38.3 percent from the field in that game, but have sizzled at home with an average margin of victory of 18.1 points.
