GAME NOTES: The Denver Pioneers have made the trek to the DakotaDome to face the South Dakota Coyotes in the Summit League opener for both teams on Saturday night.

South Dakota last took the floor last Saturday when it routed Iowa Wesleyan, 86-52, at the DakotaDome.

Tyler Flack scored a season-high 16 points and Trevor Gruis added 15 points for the Coyotes, who have won two straight following a stretch in which they lost six in a row.

Brandon Bos and Adam Thoseby scored 12 points each for South Dakota, which shot better than 50 percent from the field.

The Coyotes put the game out of reach early, as they buried six first-half 3- pointers and led 47-29 at the break. South Dakota continued to cruise in the second half.

Bos leads the Coyotes in scoring at 12.9 ppg, despite shooting just 39 percent from the field. He is aided by strong free-throw shooting, hitting 86.4 percent of his attempts. Gruis is next in scoring with 12.1 ppg, and he leads the team in rebounding with 6.5 rpg. The big man makes up for Bos' shooting deficiencies by hitting nearly 59 percent of his total shots.

This will be the third game of a five-game homestand for South Dakota, which has won four of five at home this season.

Denver comes into tonight's contest, its first in the Summit League, having alternated wins and losses over the last six outings. Most recently, the Pioneers fell to Saint Joseph's in a 53-52 final last Saturday.

Jalen Love scored 20 points for Denver, which had a chance to win the game. Trailing by two in the waning moments, a 3-point shot by Marcus Byrd went in and out, and a Chris Udofia follow was blocked.

Udofia finished with nine points and a team-high seven rebounds for the Pioneers, who are just 2-4 on the road this season.

Brett Olson leads the team in scoring at 14.2 ppg, while Udofia is next with 12.8 ppg and 5.9 rpg. Cam Griffin is the team's leading rebounder with 7.0 rpg.

Denver, as a team, averages just 65.3 ppg compared to 72 ppg for South Dakota. The Pioneers will have trouble keeping up with their new conference foe, especially on the road.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: South Dakota 69, Denver 63
