GAME NOTES: After sustaining a four-game win streak that ended Jan. 2, the Pepperdine Waves look to turn around two consecutive losses as they travel to face the San Diego Toreros in West Coast Conference action at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

Pepperdine has lost back-to-back games following its four-game win streak, most recently to Brigham Young, 84-72. The Waves haven't lost three straight all season long, and will return home from their current four-game road trip after the matchup with San Diego.

The Toreros ended their three-game losing skid with a win over Loyola Marymount, 74-67, in WCC play Thursday. San Diego started the season 5-0, but is 5-7 since then. In a tightly knit West Coast Conference, only one team does not have a double-digit win total.

Pepperdine has a hold of the all-time series, leading 57-40 in the historic West Coast rivalry. Pepperdine has already defeated San Diego this season back on Dec. 28, 75-64.

Pepperdine was without both Brendan Lane and Malcolm Brooks in its loss to BYU Thursday. Lane leads the team in scoring this season with Brooks sitting fourth in that department, but couldn't make the trip with injuries. Stacy Davis and Lamond Murray Jr. filled in as the go-to scorers in the contest, netting 17 and 14 points, respectively. Davis connected on 6-of-16 shooting, while Murray did most of his damage at the free-throw line, hitting 7-of-9. Jeremy Major netted 12 points and dished out a team-high six assists.

Lane's 15.4 ppg average was clearly missed, though Davis (14.8 ppg) filled in nicely. Lane is also tops on the team in rebounding at 8.4 rpg, with Davis not too far behind at 7.8 rpg. Major, who leads the team with 76 assists this season, is third in scoring at 11.6 ppg. Pepperdine is scoring 72.9 ppg on the year. Lane and Brooks are questionable to play against San Diego.

San Diego had to rally from a 28-25 halftime deficit to defeat Loyola Marymount on Thursday. Duda Sanadze scored a game-high 22 points, mostly from the free-throw line. Sanadze hit 14-of-15 free-throw attempts in the win, contributing five rebounds and two steals in 24 minutes of play. Christopher Anderson netted 20 points on 9-of-15 shooting, while Dennis Kramer added 14.

Johnny Dee leads the team in scoring this season with 17.4 ppg on 41.5 percent shooting from the field and an impressive 91.4 percent from the free-throw line. Sanadze nets 12.6 ppg, while Anderson, who leads the team with 105 assists and 26 steals this season, is fourth at 10.8 ppg. The Toreros as a unit shoot 44.5 percent from the floor and average 69.2 ppg.

Both teams have some excellent scoring depth and play stellar defense. With the question marks surrounding Pepperdine's health and the home crowd behind them, the Toreros should have the edge.
