Eugene, OR (SportsNetwork.com) - Tony Gill scored 14 points as the Cal Poly Mustangs narrowly defeated the Pacific Tigers, 73-71, in the second day of the Global Sports Challenge at Matthew Knight Arena.

Khalil Kelley added 12 points for Pacific (5-1), while Ross River chipped in 11 and Sama Taku finished with nine rebounds.

Cal Poly (2-4) was led by Chris Eversley's double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds. Kyle Odister added 14 points while Dave Nwaba chipped in 11.

Pacific shot 46.4 percent from the field in the first half on its way to a 36-28 lead at the half. Cal Poly shot a meager 32.1 percent on its field goal tries.

The Mustangs got hot after the half making 58.3 percent of their shots from the floor and sinking 6-of-12 shots from beyond the arc. The Tigers only shot 1-of-5 from behind the 3-point line and made 43.5 percent of their shots from the field. With 44 seconds left Eversley made a go-ahead 3-point shot to make the score 71-70 in favor of the Mustangs. Gill converted a 3-point play with 30 seconds left to put the Tigers up 73-71. Pacific held on after two failed 3-point attempts by Odister to end the game.

The Tigers' bench played very well as they outscored the Mustangs' bench 27-17. Pacific also held the 30-18 edge in points in the paint.
