GAME NOTES: Cross-town rivals collide on Saturday night, as the UCLA Bruins tangle with the USC Trojans at the Galen Center in a Pac-12 Conference battle.

UCLA, which has been in and out of the national rankings this season, is sporting a 17-5 overall record as it enters this contest. The Bruins are also a respectable 6-3 in league play, although they fell in their last outing to Oregon State (71-67). UCLA hosts Colorado and Utah in its next two bouts.

USC has had very little to be proud of this season, with losses in eight of its last nine games, all during league play. The Trojans' struggles against the rest of the Pac-12 have ruined their success in non-league, as they are now 10-12 overall. This contest begins a three-game homestand for Andy Enfield's squad, with its next matchup coming against Utah.

The Bruins absolutely dominated the Trojans in the first meeting between the two this season, rolling to a 107-73 victory at Pauley Pavilion. The Bruins have won six of the last seven matchups, and lead the all-time series by a 133-104 margin.

In their last outing, the Bruins were unable to hit shots consistently enough to knock off Oregon State on the road, falling in a 71-67 final, while shooting just 38.6 percent from the field. Kyle Anderson scored 18 points and collected nine rebounds in the loss.

Falling short because of poor shooting has rarely been UCLA's problem this season. The Bruins are second in the Pac-12 in both scoring (82.9 ppg) and field goal percentage (.494), while ranking among the top-15 nationally in each category as well. Anderson (15.1 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 6.6 apg) does it all for the team, leading the conference in assists and ranking in the top-15 in scoring and rebounding. Jordan Adams (16.8 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 3 spg) heads up the offensive effort as the team's leading scorer, but he missed all nine of his field goal attempts and finished with only six points against Oregon State. Zach LaVine (11.2 ppg) and Norman Powell (11 ppg) provide added scoring punch.

Byron Wesley led three players in double figures with 19 points in USC's 78-66 loss to Oregon last Saturday. The Trojans shot 49 percent from the field, compared to the Ducks' 40.3 percent. However, they turned the ball over 22 times, while forcing only six miscues from the opposition.

USC is nowhere near as potent an offensive team as UCLA, ranking next-to-last in the Pac-12 in scoring (71.7 ppg), while connecting on less than 45 percent from the field. Wesley (16.9 ppg, 6.8 rpg) has really been the only reliable scoring option for the Trojans, as well as the team's best performer on the glass. After his showing against Oregon, Wesley has scored at least 18 points in three straight games. J.T. Terrell (10.4 ppg) and Pe'Shon Howard are also averaging in double figures, but both are shooting below 40 percent from the field.

Even though the Trojans may play with some added intensity due to the rivalry, they simply don't have the offensive firepower to keep up with the Bruins.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: UCLA 76, USC 68
