NCAA Game Summary - Ole Miss at Georgia

(Saturday, February 15th)

Final Score: Georgia 61, Ole Miss 60

Athens, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Charles Mann converted a free-throw attempt with 1.5 seconds remaining to lift the Georgia Bulldogs to a 61-60 victory over the Ole Miss Rebels in a Southeastern Conference thriller at Stegeman Coliseum.

Mann finished with 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists as the Bulldogs (14-10, 8-4 SEC) notched their fourth win in a row. Kenny Gaines poured in a team-high 21 points, while Marcus Thornton grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked three shots.

Ole Miss (16-9, 7-5) came up just short despite a strong showing from Marshall Henderson, who knocked down 6-of-13 shots from the floor en route to a game- high 24 points. Jarvis Summers added 11 points, but it was not enough to help the Rebels avoid their second consecutive loss.

Ole Miss connected on 47.6 percent of its field goal attempts including a 5- of-11 clip from 3-point range in the opening 20 minutes of play. The Bulldogs were limited to 30.4 percent efficiency from the floor in the first half and went into the break trailing, 28-23.

Georgia slightly improved to sink 34.5 percent of its field goal tries and converted 13-of-17 attempts at the charity stripe after halftime. The Rebels' accuracy faded as they hit on only 1-of-10 attempts from beyond the arc in the second period. Gaines buried a 3-point field goal attempt with 47 seconds left in regulation to give the Bulldogs a 60-57 advantage on the scoreboard, but Ole Miss quickly responded as Summers completed a traditional three-point play to even the score just 14 seconds later. Georgia then ran down the clock before Mann was fouled by Dwight Coleby with just 1.5 seconds showing on the game clock. Mann missed his first attempt before icing the game on the back end of his late trip to the charity stripe.

Georgia enjoyed a 49-34 edge in the rebounding battle which helped it outscore the Rebels, 20-12, in second chance points.
