GAME NOTES: Outside of a stunning upset of top-ranked Syracuse last month, very little has gone right for a Boston College program that is set to host the Florida State Seminoles in ACC action at the Conte Forum tonight.

Boston College, which is just 4-8 at home in 2013-14 and has just as many victories in 16 league opportunities, is coming off an 80-72 triumph versus Wake Forest over the weekend, a decision that snapped a two-game slide for the squad. The Eagles entered the week tied for next-to-last in the league standings with Georgia Tech, just ahead of a woeful Virginia Tech group.

Meanwhile, the Seminoles find themselves in the top half of the ACC standings with a split of 16 conference outings. Florida State, which closes out the regular season against Syracuse this weekend at home, is coming off an 81-71 victory against Georgia Tech, the second straight win and the third in the last four contests for the program.

The 'Noles won last year's meeting at home by a score of 69-66 in the middle of February, which means the all-time series is split through 10 matchups dating back to 2005-06.

Florida State shot 6-of-12 behind the 3-point line and outscored the Yellow Jackets by a 31-16 margin at the free-throw line, yet still won by just 10 points at home the last time out. Okaro White led the way with 18 points, Devon Bookert 16 on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting beyond the arc and at the free- throw line, followed by Aaron Thomas and Ian Miller with 15 points and four rebounds apiece. Montay Brandon Pitched in with 12 rebounds and seven points.

Miller, who is shooting 40.2 percent beyond the arc these days as a reserve almost exclusively, is the leading scorer for the Seminoles with his 13.9 ppg, adding 78 assists which is one behind Bookert for the team lead. Thomas is right behind Miller in scoring with his 13.7 ppg, while White checks in with 12.7 ppg and a team-high 6.5 rpg. Defensively, FSU has limited foes to just 38.9 percent shooting from the field and 65.5 ppg.

More than anything else, it was the defense of the Eagles in the first half against Wake Forest that allowed the visitors to come away with the win, holding the Demon Deacons to a mere six field goals through the first 20 minutes of action. Eventually the visitors saw Ryan Anderson posted a game- high 24 points, followed by Olivier Hanlan with 17, Lonnie Jackson 12 points off the bench and Patrick Heckmann 10.

Playing in excess of 36 minutes per tilt, Hanlan has his hand in a lot of the offense for the Eagles, from his team-best 18.2 ppg to 82 assists, the latter being second only to Joe Rahon (9.0 ppg) who has handed out 95 assists. Tops on the unit with 54 3-pointers, Hanlan has made quite a splash at the free- throw line where he is 82.0 percent accurate. Ryan Anderson checks in with 14.5 ppg and is tops with 7.2 rpg.

Boston College was able to catch lightning in a bottle a couple of times in the last few weeks, but with so much riding on these last regular-season contests, the Seminoles cannot allow a potential win to escape them right now.
