GAME NOTES: Both the IUPUI Jaguars and the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks will try to halt losing skids on Monday night when the teams face off at the Show Me Center for a non-conference bout.

IUPUI is currently in a three-game skid, including a Saturday afternoon setback at Indiana State, 81-61. The Jaguars, who had won three in a row prior to their present losing streak, are just 4-10 on the season with a 1-5 ledger on the road.

SEMO has been largely impressive this season, winning seven of its first 11 games, but it has slid back of late with two consecutive losses. After losing a home matchup with Illinois-Chicago, 75-69, the Redhawks fought hard on Saturday night at nationally-ranked Memphis before falling by a 77-65 final.

This marks the first-ever meeting in men's basketball between the Jaguars and the Redhawks.

The Jaguars hung around in the first half against Indiana State by shooting 46.2 percent from the field, but they regressed in the second half to 36.7 percent on their way to a 20-point setback. Marcellus Barksdale was outstanding in spite of the loss, tallying 17 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. Mitch Patton scored 15 points on 7-of-14 from the field, while Ian Chiles added 13 points.

It has been a trying season for IUPUI, as it shoots just 43.4 percent from the field (including 30.6 percent from 3-point range) for 68.5 points per game while boasting negative margins in terms of scoring (-3.5) and rebounding (-4.6). The team is able to make up for some of its shortcomings with a +1.4 turnover margin. Chiles is the top scoring option with 17.7 points per game, and the 7-foot-2 center is active from the perimeter (21-of-69). Patton brings 11.7 points and 5.4 rebounds per game to the table, while Khufu (9.9 ppg) has also been solid.

SEMO was within striking defense of Memphis late in the game, as it trailed by just seven with under six minutes left, but the Tigers effectively put the game away by ripping off seven straight points. It shot a respectable 45 percent from the field, but it was just 6-of-10 from the free-throw line and lost the turnover battle by a convincing 19-8 margin. Tyler Stone played great in the loss, registering a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 10-of-18 from the field. Jarekious Bradley shined as well with 19 points and six boards, while Antonius Cleveland rounded out the double-digit scorers with 14 points.

On the season, the Redhawks have displayed great offensive success, as they shoot just a shade under 50 percent from the field for 83.7 points per game for a +11.2 scoring margin. Bradley (19.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg) is the go-to option and sports strong percentages from the field (.536), beyond the arc (.409) and the foul line (.735). Stone (18.7 ppg, 9.0 rpg) and Cleveland (10.8 ppg) also shoot greater than 50 percent from the floor, while Darrian Gray (10.4 ppg) and Lucas Nutt (8.5 ppg, 6.6 apg) are regular contributors as well.

The Redhawks' struggles of late have been the exception to the rule this season, and they figure to get back on the winning track at home against a lackluster IUPUI squad.
