GAME NOTES: Facing off for the second time in just over two weeks, the Harvard Crimson get together with the Dartmouth Big Green for an Ivy League showdown at Leede Arena.

Dartmouth is in the midst of a four-game slide and is now a game under .500 after bowing to St. John's last weekend in a 69-55 final. It has now been more than a month since the Big Green topped another Division I opponent, taking care of Longwood (84-64) back on Dec. 21.

As for Harvard, a team which had lost only once (Colorado) through the first 14 games of 2013-14, it has been tripped up twice now in the last three outings. On Tuesday night, the Crimson were shut down by Florida Atlantic in a 68-53 final.

In the first meeting of the season between these two, Dartmouth was held to a season-low 45 points in a 16-point loss on the road. Gabas Maldunas was the lone double-digit scorer for the visitors with 23 points, but he is now out of action following right knee surgery. Harvard was paced by Brandyn Curry and Steve Moundou-Missi with 17 and 16 points, respectively.

The Big Green lead the all-time series by a 94-83 count, but Harvard has closed the gap considerably in the last several years by winning nine straight matchups.

In one of their most disappointing displays in quite some time, the Crimson shot a dismal 23.0 percent from the field against FAU earlier this week, connecting on just 2-of-12 behind the 3-point line in the 15-point road loss. Zena Edosomwan, Siyani Chambers and Wesley Saunders all tallied 11 points, while the defense for the Crimson allowed FAU to shoot a decent 46.9 percent from the field and 8-of-15 out on the perimeter.

The loss of Moundou-Missi means the Crimson will have to find a way to fill his 9.1 ppg and 5.7 rpg, the latter placing him second on the team behind only Kyle Casey (10.8 ppg) who is bringing down 6.1 rpg. Saunders heads the scoring list at the moment with 15.4 ppg, although he did miss a couple of games. Chambers checks in with 11.4 ppg and is tops on the team in assists with 79.

Dartmouth was hanging around at halftime against the Red Storm, trailing by just four points, but then the visitors went in the tank, converting just eight field goals in the second half of the double-digit loss. John Golden emerged as the lone double-digit scorer for the program with his 13 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the floor, while the other four starters combined to shot a dismal 9-of-36 from the field.

Alex Mitola, who converted three of his four chances behind the 3-point line in order to come up with nine points, remains one of the leading scorers for Dartmouth on the season with his 10.5 ppg, not too far off the pace set by Maldunas (11.2 ppg) and Connor Boehm (10.7 ppg) for a program that is generating 69.5 ppg at the moment. Luckily, the defense has managed to limit opponents to 62.9 ppg in order to make things interesting.

Back in their own element against another Ivy League program, now is the time for the Crimson to ramp up their win total to ensure that they get the invitation to the NCAA Tournament again.
