NCAA Game Summary - Wright State at Valparaiso

(Friday, January 10th)

Final Score: Wright State 62, Valparaiso 45

Valparaiso, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Miles Dixon tallied 12 points to lead the Wright State Raiders to a 62-45 win against the Crusaders of Valparaiso in Horizon League action at the Athletics-Recreation Center.

Also scoring in double figures for the Raiders (10-8, 2-1 HL), as they won their first true road game of the season in nine tries, was Reggie Arceneaux who not only posted 10 points, he also cleared eight rebounds and handed out six assists. Cole Darling, AJ Pacher and Jerran Young all added nine points as the Raiders won for the fifth time in six tries.

The Crusaders (9-9, 1-2) had just one player score in double figures as Jordan Coleman produced 10 points. Valpo has now dropped four of the last five contests.

The hosts led by four points early in the meeting, as it took Wright State more than two and a half minutes to register its first basket of the night. However, it wasn't long before a mere 33.3 percent shooting by Valpo in the first half put them behind by as many as 17, en route to a 37-22 deficit at the break.

The Crusaders drew to within a single point in the second half at 39-38 with just under 11 minutes remaining, but WSU again picked up the pace on offense and cruised to the 17-point win.

Wright State shot only 35.2 percent from the floor on the night, including a miserable 6-of-26 (.231) in the second half, but the fact that the team turned the ball over just four times made all the difference.

The 45 points for the Crusaders are the fewest since the team bowed to nationally-ranked Kansas, 79-44, on Nov. 15, 2010.
