GAME NOTES: Both the Saint Peter's Peacocks and the Siena Saints will try to avenge losses from earlier in the week when they meet up for a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference bout at the Times Union Center on Thursday night.

Saint Peter's had been winners of a season-high three straight games prior to its most recent contest on Monday night, when they fell on the wrong end of a 70-63 decision at Marist. The Peacocks, who will wrap up a three-game road trip with this matchup, are now 7-10 on the season and 3-5 in conference action.

Siena has not fared well of late, as it has dropped three in the row on the heels of winning four of five. The Saints are coming off an 88-74 setback at Iona on Sunday to fall to 7-12 overall, but now they return home, where they've won five of seven at the Times Union Center.

The Peacocks have defeated the Saints in five of the past six meetings to extend their lead in the all-time series to 43-37.

With its latest game tied at 47 late in the second half, Saint Peter's pulled away from Marist thanks to a 12-2 run. It shot a mere 40.4 percent from the field, but it was slightly better than Marist's performance (.396) and earned extra possession by owning a 41-33 advantage on the boards. Marvin Dominique was the catalyst in the triumph with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Trevis Wyche added 13 points and five assists, while Chris Burke and Desi Washington netted 12 and 11 points, respectively.

On the season, the Peacocks have underwhelmed offensively, shooting just 40 percent from the field for 66.1 ppg, which all but negates their solid play on the defensive end of the court (.418, 68.4 ppg). Despite his team's struggles, Dominique has been one of the MAAC's best players, posting 18.1 ppg, 9.2 rpg and 1.2 bpg while sporting impressive percentages from the field (.479), 3- point range (.407) and the free-throw line (.741). Washington is the only other player to score in double figures with 13.4 ppg, but he does so on just 35.8 percent from the field. Wyche (8.6 ppg) hands out 4.2 apg.

Although Siena trailed Iona by just four points midway through the second half of its most recent contest, it fell victim to a 17-4 run down the stretch as it lost control. It shot just 41.8 percent from the field on the afternoon, while Iona made good on 54 percent of its tries from the floor. Evan Hymes paced the losing effort in a reserve role by pouring in 23 points on 9-of-15 from the field. Lavon Long put up 16 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks, while Marquis Wright flirted with a triple-double by tallying 12 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

The Saints also play to a negative scoring margin this season (-4.5), shooting just 42.8 percent from the field while committing 3.2 more turnovers per game that they force. Rob Poole in the leading scorer (15.0 ppg) and rebounder (6.0 rpg) and has drained 35-of-92 from beyond the arc. Hymes (10.9 ppg) has come off the bench in all but one game, while Long (9.1 ppg), Brett Bisping (8.4 ppg, 5.8 rpg) and Wright (7.6 ppg, 5.8 apg, 2.1 spg) are also solid.

Saint Peter's has been the more impressive team of late, but Siena has generally performed well on its home court and should be able to use that advantage down the stretch to squeak out a close one.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Siena 70, Saint Peter's 68
