NCAA Game Summary - Wright State at Youngstown State

(Saturday, January 25th)

Final Score: Youngstown State 68, Wright State 67

Youngstown, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Ryan Weber and Kendrick Perry each poured in 18 points for the Youngstown State Penguins, who hung on for a nail-biting 68-67 victory over the Wright State Raiders in Horizon League action at the Beeghly Center.

Kamren Belin added 15 points for YSU (13-9, 4-3 Horizon), which has won four of five.

For Wright State (13-10, 5-3), AJ Pacher put up 15 points, Matt Vest tallied 10 points and nine rebounds and JT Yoho also scored 10.

YSU shot 50 percent from the field in the first half, slightly better than Wright State's 45.8 percent showing. The Penguins were also 7-of-11 at the foul line in the opening stanza, as they took a 33-27 lead into intermission.

The Raiders grabbed a 36-35 lead with 15:17 remaining on a Kendall Griffin 3- pointer, and the teams remained within one possession of each other for most of the stretch run. Following a Vest 3-pointer with 12 seconds left, Wright State trailed by just one, 68-67, and it forced YSU into a turnover on the other end of the floor. The Raiders held possession in the waning seconds, but Yoho missed a layup as time ran down and the Penguins escaped victorious.

Despite the loss, Wright State's bench outscored YSU's reserves, 35-4.
