NCAA Game Summary - Oklahoma at Texas Tech

(Saturday, January 25th)

Final Score: (25) Oklahoma 74, Texas Tech 65

Lubbock, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Buddy Hield had a game-high 18 points to help No. 25 Oklahoma outlast Texas Tech, 74-65, at United Spirit Arena.

Cameron Clark totaled 17 points and Jordan Woodard had 15 points and eight assists for the Sooners (16-4, 5-2 Big 12), who have won three straight. Ryan Spangler added seven points and 10 rebounds for the visitors.

"I thought our guys played really hard and maybe for 40 minutes as consistently solid basketball as we've done all year," Sooners head coach Lon Krueger said.

Jaye Crockett and Jordan Tolbert scored 14 points apiece for Texas Tech (10-10, 2-5), which has lost five of its last seven. Alex Foster contributed eight points and eight boards off the bench in the setback.

"They out-coached and out-maneuvered us and we got beat again tonight," Texas Tech head coach Tubby Smith said.

The final 20 minutes began with an exchange of baskets before a Foster jumper sparked a 12-3 burst for the Red Raiders and pulled them within four, 50-46, with 11:26 left on the clock.

Oklahoma answered with four straight to increase the cushion to eight, but Crockett scored the next six points for Tech around a Hield trey and the Red Raiders trailed by five.

The Sooners then managed an 8-3 run sparked by a 3-point play from Clark and the teams exchanged baskets over the remaining two minutes as Oklahoma made its free throws in the closing minutes to secure the win.

Oklahoma jumped out to an early 7-2 lead and continued to extend their advantage throughout the first half. With 7:33 left in the opening frame, the Sooners were in front 29-16, but the Red Raiders closed half on an 8-3 run to trail 38-29 at the break.
