GAME NOTES: The Santa Clara Broncos finally put an end to a seven-game losing streak with a victory last Saturday. Now they'll try and string a pair of wins together as they host the San Francisco Dons in a West Coast Conference tilt at the Leavey Center.

San Francisco has lost two of its last three games, including a 68-63 defeat at the hands of BYU a week ago. Still, the Dons are 8-5 in the conference standings and in pursuit of Gonzaga for the conference lead.

Santa Clara suffered through seven consecutive losses before a 69-63 win over San Diego finally put the Broncos back in the win column. It doesn't get easier as they host San Francisco, which will be the second meeting between the two sides this season.

Santa Clara holds the slim edge in a lengthy all-time series with San Francisco, 111-102. The Dons gained a game back when they defeated the Broncos, 75-66, at home earlier this year.

BYU casually extended its lead against San Francisco last Saturday to three points at the half, then added another two in the second for the five-point win. Tim Derksen led the Dons with 17 points in the game, while Mark Tollefsen chipped in 12 before fouling out. Both Cole Dickerson and Avry Holmes netted 10 points in the contest for San Francisco. The Dons shot 49.1 percent from the floor in the loss.

Dickerson leads the Dons in scoring this season with a 14.6 ppg average on 53.1 percent shooting from the floor. His 7 rpg average is a team high, but Dickerson is connecting on just 49.4 percent of his free-throw opportunities. Kruize Pinkins adds 12.2 ppg for San Francisco, and Holmes checks in at 12.1 ppg. Matt Glover leads the Dons with 86 assists on the year and 34 steals. San Francisco is averaging 76.5 ppg through 25 games played.

Santa Clara took just a one-point lead into the locker room at the intermission versus San Diego, but the Broncos came out strong in the second frame and downed the Toreros in San Diego. Brandon Clark led all scorers in the game with 23 points, adding four assists and four steals to his stat resume. Jared Brownridge was the only other Broncos player to score in double figures, netting 17 on 7-of-18 shooting from the floor.

Clark and Brownridge have separated themselves from the rest of the pack on the Santa Clara roster in terms of scoring. Clark leads the team with a 17.1 ppg average, while Brownridge trails by just a few tenths of a points at 16.8 ppg. Jerry Brown tops the team with 5.7 rpg, and Clark leads in assists with 3.4 apg. Evan Roquemore is third in scoring with 10.6 ppg.

San Francisco has the only head-to-head win between the two teams this season, but must now travel to Santa Clara for this contest. The Dons are a well- rounded squad, and should be able to jump ahead quickly and maintain a lead.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: San Francisco 75, Santa Clara 67
