NCAA Game Summary - Colorado at Washington

(Sunday, January 12th)

Final Score: Washington 71, (15) Colorado 54

Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - C.J. Wilcox netted a career-high 31 points to lead the Washington Huskies to a 71-54 upset over 15th-ranked Colorado from Alaska Airlines Arena.

Wilcox shot 7-of-12 from the 3-point arc and reached his career mark on a breakaway dunk late in the contest to put the finishing touches on Washington's (11-6, 3-1 Pac-12) first win over a ranked opponent since March 12, 2011.

"It's huge," said Wilcox. "Every week (in December) you could see when we changed defenses we were getting better and better. You could see entering the Pac-12 season that we were getting better. Now, we are getting results."

Andrew Andrews added 14 points and Mike Anderson had 10 rebounds in the Huskies' fifth win in their last six games. The lone loss during the stretch came against No. 1 Arizona eight days ago.

Colorado (14-3, 3-1) will be able to overcome its first conference loss but may not be able to overcome the loss of leading scorer and preseason All Pac-12 pick Spencer Dinwiddie, who suffered a left-knee injury late in the first half. Dinwiddie was helped to the locker room and did not return to the floor.

"My gut is that it's not good, but we'll see," said Colorado head coach Tad Boyle.

Josh Scott paced the Buffaloes with 15 points, and Wesley Gordon had the first double-double of his young career with 11 points and a game-high 13 boards.

Dinwiddie donated seven points in the first 20 minutes, which were largely controlled by Colorado. Tre'Shaun Fletcher capped a 7-0 surge midway through the period with a transition dunk for a 19-13 margin. Fletcher's free throws at 4:50 gave the visitors their largest lead of the game at 25-18 before Washington scored the next six points to keep it close.

Colorado led 29-26 at the break.

The second period belonged to Washington. Wilcox and Andrews potted 3-pointers 22 seconds apart early on to go in front. Wilcox then scored eight of the next nine Huskies points.

Wilcox's trey out of a timeout at 12:49 put Washington up by double figures and without Dinwiddie, the Buffaloes didn't have an answer. They never got within 12 the rest of the way.

Game Notes

Washington improved to 17-11 under Lorenzo Romar at home against ranked opponents ... Colorado won the rebounding margin 38-30 ... The Buffaloes made just 1-of-12 from behind the arc ... No one on Colorado had more than one assist ... Askia Booker, who reached double figures in 10 of Colorado's last 11 games, did not score on 0-for-9 shooting.
