GAME NOTES: The Georgia State Panthers are likely itching to get back on the court after a Thursday night postponement moved the Panthers' only game in the past week to Monday, Feb. 3. The Panthers will host the Texas-Arlington Mavericks in Sun Belt Conference play at the GSU Sports Arena.

UT Arlington had a three-game win streak ended Thursday night as the Mavericks were downed by Western Kentucky, 77-72. The loss set Arlington back to 4-4 in the conference standings as they chase Georgia State's perfect 8-0 lead.

Georgia State lost four consecutive games earlier this season, but turned things around starting with a win over Old Dominion on Dec. 14. The Panthers haven't lost a game since that point, winning 11 in a row, including a 66-58 victory over ULM last Saturday.

UT Arlington and Georgia State have only met three times in their program histories, with the Mavericks taking all three of the previous matchups. The last time they met on the court however, was during the 1991 season.

Arlington suffered a heartbreaker Thursday night against Western Kentucky, as the Mavericks saw a 12-point second half lead evaporate completely. The Hilltoppers took their first lead of the game with under four minutes to play in regulation, and held on for the win. Lonnie McClanahan led all scorers in the game with 28 points on 9-of-17 shooting from the floor, adding 10-of-11 from the free-throw line. Brandon Edwards chipped in 19 points and Reger Dowell scored 12.

Dowell has been a force for the Mavericks this season, netting a team-leading 21.1 ppg on 42.7 percent shooting from the floor. Edwards comes in at second on the team with 16.3 ppg and a team-best 9.5 rpg with 36 blocked shots. McClanahan checks in at third with 14.4 ppg and a team-high 75 assists on the year. UT Arlington is averaging 76.6 ppg and allowing just 68.6 ppg to its opponents.

Georgia State piled on its seventh win in conference play, which is the best start in the team's Sun Belt history. The 11 consecutive wins for the Panthers also ties its longest win streak in history, which occurred just two seasons ago. Ryan Harrow scored 18 points to pace the Panthers against ULM, while Devonta White chipped in 17 points and a team-high four assists. R.J. Hunter netted 13, and Manny Atkins scored 11 to round out the double-digit scorers. Georgia State shot 38.6 percent from the floor in the win.

Hunter and Harrow have separated themselves from the rest of the pack in terms of scoring numbers this season for Georgia State. Hunter leads the team with a 19.5 ppg clip on 46.1 percent shooting, while Harrow checks in at second with 17.8 ppg. Atkins (13.7 ppg) and White (10.2 ppg) are third and fourth in scoring, respectively. White tops the squad with 92 assists, and Curtis Washington leads in rebounding with a 6.2 rpg average.

UT Arlington has been playing well and if history is any indicator, the Mavericks have the upper hand here. But Georgia State has been red-hot since starting up conference play, and will likely be rested and refreshed after having the week off.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Georgia State 80, UT Arlington 71
