GAME NOTES: The struggling Davidson Wildcats will open their Southern Conference schedule as they visit Johnson Arena to take on the Wofford Terriers.

Davidson, which has won nine SoCon regular-season division titles in the last 12 seasons, is currently mired in a five-game slide, its longest losing streak since 1991-92. The Wildcats dropped to 4-10 following a 76-64 setback to former league rival College of Charleston on New Year's Day. This is their final season as a member of the SoCon before moving over to the Atlantic 10 Conference this summer.

Meanwhile, Wofford began its SoCon slate on Thursday with a 71-61 victory at Samford. The Terriers have rebounded from a three-game losing streak by winning each of their last three contests. This bout kicks off a stretch that will see them play four of their next five in Spartanburg.

Davidson has dominated the head-to-head series with a 72-24 overall mark, including five straight victories over the Terriers.

Davidson was just 39 percent accurate from the floor on Wednesday and was simply unable to keep pace with a CofC squad that shot a blistering 62.5 percent in the second half, which included a 19-4 run. The Wildcats had no answer in the paint for Cougars forward Willis Hall, who scored 26 points and grabbed 21 rebounds. Brian Sullivan led Davidson with 13 points, followed by Tom Droney with 12. Leading scorer De'Mon Brooks (14.3 ppg) had just seven points in 19 minutes as he shot 3-of-8 from the field. If they are to win this matchup, the Wildcats will certainly need more production from Brooks, who has won the last two SoCon Tournament MVP's and was tabbed the conference's preseason player of the year. Joining Brooks in double figures this season are Sullivan (13.7 ppg), Droney (11.9) and Tyler Kalinoski (11.0).

Wofford is led by guard Spencer Collins and his 13.4 ppg, while teammate Karl Cochran is averaging 12.6 points and 5.4 rebounds, mostly off the bench. Cochran also paces the Terriers with 27 3-pointers (.370), an average of just over two per game. Down by four with just under five minutes to play against Samford on Thursday, Wofford closed out the game with a decisive 18-4 run to secure the double-digit win. Cochran had a season-high 27 points to go along with six rebounds, and Eric Garcia scored a career-high 14 off the bench. As a team, the Terriers made 11-of-21 3-pointers (.524) and held a 32-22 rebounding advantage, including an 11-3 edge on the offensive glass.

Although the Wildcats have owned this head-to-head series, this year's squad is looking at a long season unless it can figure out how to tighten up defensively.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Wofford 79, Davidson 69
