NCAA Game Summary - Presbyterian at Duke

(Saturday, November 12th)

Final Score: (6) Duke 96, Presbyterian 55

Durham, NC (Sports Network) - Ryan Kelly scored 17 points to lead the No. 6 Duke Blue Devils to a 96-55 victory over Presbyterian, which moved coach Mike Krzyzewski into a tie with Bob Knight for the most wins in NCAA Division I men's basketball history.

Krzyzewski notched victory No. 902, tying him with his mentor Knight, who coached the Duke icon during his playing days at Army.

"It's kind of neat to have that relationship with him," said Krzyzewski. "He's had such an influence on my coaching career, no question about it."

After barely edging Belmont, 77-76, in Friday's season opener, the Blue Devils (2-0) bounced back with authority against Presbyterian.

Freshman guard Austin Rivers had 15 points and six assists, brothers Miles and Mason Plumlee both had 13 points and Seth Curry and Quinn Cook both finished with 10 points.

The Blue Devils shot 61.4 percent to extend their win streak at Cameron Indoor Stadium to 38 games -- the longest active home win streak in the nation.

Presbyterian opened the season with a 103-73 drubbing of NAIA opponent Montreat on Friday, but struggled to generate offense against sixth-ranked Duke.

Al'Lonzo Coleman had a team-high 11 points on 4-of-14 shooting, while Pierre Miller chipped in 10 points.

The Blue Hose (1-1), content to spread the floor and rely on isolation, shot just 32.1 percent from the field in the loss.

Krzyzewski will have an opportunity to earn win No. 903 on Tuesday, when the Blue Devils take on Michigan State at Madison Square Garden as part of the Champions Classic.

"It hasn't been a distraction for me except time-wise because I'm good about not making it that big of a thing," said Krzyzewski. "[But] I know it's a big thing. I'm not minimizing it."

Kelly and Curry both went 4-for-5 during a first half which saw the Blue Devils grab a 53-30 lead.

Kelly totaled 13 points in just 12 minutes off the bench and as a team, the Blue Devils shot 67.9 percent from the floor, including 6-of-9 from beyond the arc.

Miles and Mason Plumlee asserted their collective inside presence over the final 20 minutes, combining for 16 points and 14 rebounds, as the Blue Devils' lead ballooned to as many as 43.

"Their inside game was tremendous," said Presbyterian coach Gregg Nibert.

Rivers was strong throughout, going 5-for-8 from the floor and using his considerable quickness and strength to get to the line, going 4-of-6 from the charity stripe.

"Tonight I was aggressive because that's me and I let it come to me," said Rivers. "I didn't come out and just try to over-make plays."

In his 37th season as head coach at Army and Duke, Krzyzewski improved his all-time record to 902-284.
