NCAA Game Summary - Ball State at Central Michigan

Final Score: Central Michigan 101, Ball State 95 (3OT)

Mount Pleasant, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Braylon Rayson finished with a career-high 30 points on 10-of-16 shooting as the Central Michigan Chippewas defeated the Ball State Cardinals in triple overtime, 101-95, in a Mid- American Conference tilt at McGuirk Arena.

Chris Fowler registered a double-double with 18 points and 12 assists for the Chippewas (9-16, 2-11 MAC), who snapped a three game losing skid. Austin Stewart logged a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, Blake Hibbitts added 17 points and John Simons chipped in 13.

Chris Bond tallied a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds for the Cardinals (4-20, 1-12), who have lost eight consecutive games. Zavier Turner scored 20 points, Jesse Berry netted 19 and Franko House had 12.

Ball State made 46.9 percent of its shots from the floor in the first period as it led 38-30 at the break. Central Michigan connected on 39.3 percent of its field goal tries in the period.

In the second half the Chippewas played much better and shot 46.9 percent from the field, including 7-of-15 from 3-point range. After trailing for most of the frame, Central Michigan tied it up at 71-71 after Hibbitts hit a 3-pointer with nine seconds remaining. Berry missed a layup as time expired sending the game to overtime.

Central Michigan took a 77-75 lead with 1:06 left in the first extra stanza after a Fowler layup. With 34 seconds on the clock Bond tied it up at 77-77 and, after Fowler missed a shot at the buzzer, the game went to a second overtime.

The Chippewas led for the majority of the second overtime, but with 1:19 Bond tied the game up at 85-85 with a layup. Neither team scored the rest of the period, sending the game onward.

In the final extra period Central Michigan pulled away with a 13-6 run to close out the frame and seal a win.

Ball State turned the ball over 15 times, whereas the Chippewas only had six miscues.
