GAME NOTES: The Austin Peay Governors, desperate for a win, host the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles Saturday in Ohio Valley Conference action at the Dunn Center.

After opening league play with two straight wins, Austin Peay has since dropped four in a row, including a 71-59 home loss against Jacksonville State on Thursday. The Governors put themselves in the hole in the first half, in part because they went 2-for-11 from the free-throw line, and they never recovered.

Will Triggs scored a team-high 16 points and Chris Horton added 11 in the setback, just the third on Austin Peay's home court.

The Governors are producing well enough at the offensive end, as they are netting 74.3 ppg and shooting the fourth-best percentage from the floor (.480) in the OVC. They also rank third in the league in assists. Horton (13.9 ppg, 9.9 rpg) and Travis Betran (13.1 ppg) are the two top scoring options, and Triggs (12.3 ppg) is also a reliable scorer. Horton sits tied for second in the conference in rebounds.

Tennessee Tech is near the bottom of the East Division after dropping its second straight game on Thursday. The Golden Eagles posted their second lowest scoring performance of the season in a 92-53 embarrassment against Murray State, which made 15 3-pointers and shot 51.5 percent from the field.

Dwan Caldwell had 14 points and Jeremiah Samarrippas scored 11 in the blowout loss, and leading scorer Dennis Ogbe was limited to two points on 1-of-4 shooting.

No Tennessee Tech player is averaging scoring numbers in the double digits this season, though Ogbe is close at 9.9 ppg on 58.2 percent shooting from the floor. Caldwell and Samarrippas average 9.4 and 9.3 ppg, respectively. Ogbe tops the team with a 6.1 rpg average, while Ladon Carter is second at 5.5 rpg. Samarrippas leads the team in passing, recording 3.9 apg through 21 contests played. The Golden Eagles average 71.8 ppg this season.

Tennessee Tech has won the last five meetings against Austin Peay to take a slim 69-68 edge in the all-time series. If the Governors want to end their losing ways against the Eagles, they'll need to clamp down better defensively.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Austin Peay 72, Tennessee Tech 70
