GAME NOTES: Harvard eyes a seventh straight victory when the Crimson battle the Fordham Rams this afternoon in a non-conference matchup in the Bronx.

Harvard earned a 74-68 win against Vermont a week ago. Siyani Chambers had a career-best 27 points, as he went 9-of-10 from the floor and made all six of his 3-point shots. Kyle Casey added 11 points for the Crimson, who converted 47.8 percent of their field goal attempts.

This ties the best 11-game start to a season under head coach Tommy Amaker. The Crimson were also 10-1 in 2011-12, a season in which they went 26-5, won the Ivy League title and made it to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1946.

The Crimson are averaging 75 points per game, which is actually two less than the Rams. The big difference, though, comes on defense where Harvard has limited its opponents to 60.5 ppg compared to 75.4 ppg for the Rams. Wesley Saunders (15.2 ppg) leads the team in scoring, followed by Chambers (11.6 ppg) and Casey (11.4 ppg). Steve Moundou-Missi (9.8 ppg, 6.3 rpg) paces the Crimson on the glass.

Fordham is coming off an 83-69 home win over Loyola-Chicago on Monday. Jon Severe poured in a game-high 23 points. Bryan Smith added 17 points and seven rebounds, Branden Frazier had 16 points and nine assists and Ryan Rhoomes finished with 14 points for the Rams, winners of three of their last four.

The Rams are next-to-last in field goal percentage among Atlantic 10 Conference teams at 41.2 percent. On the flip side, Fordham is making 76.6 percent from the charity stripe, which is first in the conference. The big problem has been at the defensive end, as the Rams are ahead of only Duquesne in the conference.

Frazier and Severe, a freshman, form the top scoring backcourt in the A-10 with a combined 37.9 ppg. Mandell Thomas (14.3 ppg), Rhoomes (8.7 ppg, 7.2 rpg) and Smith (7.7 ppg) are the club's other key contributors.

Harvard came away with a 73-64 win in last season's meeting against the Rams. A victory today would give Amaker his 299th career win. So far, 122 of those victories have come at Harvard. The Crimson are enjoying their longest win streak since taking nine in a row from Jan. 7 - Feb. 10, 2012. That's still well short of the program-record 13-game victory surge set during the 1945-46 season when Harvard made the NCAA Tournament for the first time. Expect the Crimson to continue their strong defensive play and take advantage of a weak shooting team.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Harvard 74, Fordham 69
