GAME NOTES: Former Colonial Athletic Association rivals collide tonight, as the Richmond Spiders tangle with the Old Dominion Monarchs.

ODU snapped a six-game skid with a 69-57 win at UNC-Wilmington a week ago. Richard Ross notched a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Keenan Palmore tallied 16 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the floor, and freshman Jordan Baker added 10 points.

The Monarchs are in the midst of a very tough stretch. Including the win at UNCW, ODU is playing six of seven games on the road. The only home game in that stretch is Jan. 4 versus George Mason.

Aaron Bacote, who leads the team at 17.6 ppg, made his first appearance as a reserve this season in the game against UNC Wilmington. Bacote was limited to nine points on 1-of-7 shooting. Dimitri Batten (12.2 ppg) and Palmore (10.8 ppg) are the other double-figure scorers for a team that is averaging just 65.3 ppg. That's the lowest among the 16 teams that make up Conference USA. The Monarchs, though, are limiting opponents to 65.7 ppg, which is the second- best mark in the conference. What's been hurting ODU is the fact that the Monarchs are shooting a paltry 56.8 percent from the foul line, which going into this week ranked 343rd among the 345 Division I teams. Ross (9.5 ppg, 8.0 rpg) leads the team on the boards.

The Spiders are coming off a 70-69 overtime loss against Ohio last Sunday. Richmond failed on two chances to win the game just before the final buzzer. Cedrick Lindsay tallied 23 points and five assists in the setback. Kendall Anthony chipped in 17 points off the bench for the Spiders, who have dropped two of their last three contests since a four-game win streak.

Richmond has been even more impressive on defense than the Monarchs, as the Spiders are allowing only 63.7 ppg. Opponents are shooting 39 percent from the field. Richmond has not lost a game in regulation in over a month, the last one coming on Nov. 23 at North Carolina.

Lindsay paces the Spiders with 18.6 ppg. Anthony is averaging 17.0 ppg and shooting 48.4 percent from beyond the arc over his last four contests. Terry Allen (9.6 ppg, 6.3 rpg) paces the Spiders on the glass, while Alonzo Nelson- Ododa has been a force in the middle with 27 blocks.

Although ODU leads the all-time series, 29-24, the Spiders have captured the last two encounters, including last season's 80-53 decision in Norfolk. The last time ODU beat Richmond in the Robins Center was Jan. 4, 1997. Richmond has won eight in a row at home over the Monarchs since that defeat. Additionally, Richmond has captured 42 of its last 49 non-conference home games.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Richmond 72, Old Dominion 59
