GAME NOTES: A road-weary Howard program finds itself on the other side of the continent for a few days as it takes part in the annual Shamrock Classic versus the Lumberjacks of Stephen F. Austin tonight at McKeon Pavilion in Moraga, California.

Of their 11 games to this point in the season, the Bison have played only one at home. The squad has managed just a single win thus far as well, defeating Hampton in the MEAC opener on December 5th by a mere two points, 56-54. Since then, Howard has been turned away by both Loyola-Maryland (85-51) and Middle Tennessee (69-51) leading up to the holiday break.

As for the Lumberjacks, who are facing Howard for the first-time ever tonight, they've gone from losing two of their first three games this season against the likes of Minnesota and Texas Tech, to winning six of the last seven. A week ago the squad put up a season-high 102 points in a 34-point romp over East Central (Oklahoma).

The teams will both be back in action on Wednesday as they switch partners with Binghamton and host Saint Mary's-CA.

Jordan Glynn registered a double-double at home in Johnson Coliseum last week as he posted 20 points and 13 rebounds, both of which were game highs in SFA's victory versus East Central. Glynn played just 25 minutes as the game got out of control, allowing four of his teammates to score in double figures in the rout. Jereal Scott tallied 13 points, Eddie Williams had 11, while reserves Mark Gomillia and Austin Falke scored 10 points apiece. A 53.8 percent shooter from the floor who is also 46.2 percent accurate behind the three-point line, Williams leads the team in scoring with his 13.9 ppg, all while pacing the program with 32 assists and 25 steals as well. Fellow starter Eric Bell is responsible for another 30 assists and 13 steals, but when it comes to creating offensive opportunities for himself Bell does little to distinguish himself with just 26.9 percent shooting from the floor and a mere 2.7 ppg.

The Bison trailed 6-0 and 17-3 in the first half against the Blue Raiders and never recovered, shooting a feeble 5-of-18 from the floor in the period and finishing with 8-of-21 accuracy at the free-throw line and 20 turnovers on the night at the Murphy Center. Calvin Thompson managed 15 points for the visitors, while Mike Phillips chipped in with 12 points as the only double- digit scorers for the Bison. On a team that is scoring a mere 55.1 ppg, while giving up 70.6 ppg, the only player who has been consistent on offense has been Thompson with his 12.5 ppg. Although, the points have not come easy for Thompson, given that he is shooting only 39.6 percent from the field. Phillips (7.5 ppg) handles most of the action in the paint with his 6.2 rpg, but still Howard is being handled by opponents on the glass regularly. The team as a whole is shooting just 36.9 percent from the floor and a miserable 23.4 percent behind the three-point line, not to mention 60.2 percent at the charity stripe.

It doesn't matter where the Bison roam these days, the fact of the matter is Howard is not a very strong team this season. The 'Jacks have built their record on a 5-1 performance at home, but this is certainly a game that should still fall in their favor.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Stephen F. Austin 67, Howard 55
