GAME NOTES: Coming off a loss to powerhouse Kentucky, Cleveland State tries to get back on the right track tonight when the Vikings host Ball State in a non- conference matchup.

The Vikings led the Wildcats for close to 37 minutes on Monday, but couldn't sustain the pressure and lost at Rupp Arena. Bryn Forbes poured in 22 points for Cleveland State with Trey Lewis recording 15 and Sebastian Douglas 13 to go along with six rebounds. Kentucky closed that game with a 24-7 run over the final seven-plus minutes.

Forbes scored 18 points in 24 minutes off the bench last year when the Vikings beat the Cardinals, 69-63, in Muncie. That was the first meeting between the schools since the 1975-76 season.

Forbes is leading the team with 20 points a game and Lewis is next at 13.0 ppg, followed by junior guard Charlie Lee with 12.8 ppg. Senior forward Jon Harris paced the team with 6.3 rebounds and is also contributing 8.0 points. The Vikings, who have alternated wins and losses over their first six games, are averaging 75.8 points per contest.

Ball State's three defeats this season have come against teams that have a combined record of 16-4 thus far. The Cardinals are coming off an 88-69 loss at Utah on Wednesday. Zavier Turner scored 15 points but also committed six turnovers. Jesse Berry poured in 13 points off the bench, Majok Majok registered 12 points and 13 boards, and Franko House and Mark Alstork each had 10 points.

Turner, a freshman point guard, paces Ball State with 15.2 points and 4.0 assists per contest. Senior guard Jesse Berry (14.2 ppg) and senior forward Chris Bond (10.2 ppg) are the other players averaging in double figures. Berry needs nine points to reach 1,000 for his college career. The Cardinals are averaging 72 points per game and shooting just 35.8 percent from 3-point range, but that's better than the Vikings (35.0 percent). Ball State, though, is turning the ball over an average of 15 times per game.

Berry had a career-best 28 points in last year's meeting against the Vikings. The Cardinals will need to get more production from others tonight if they're going to overcome Cleveland State.
