NCAA Game Summary - Ole Miss vs. Wisconsin

(Friday, March 22nd)

Final Score: Ole Miss 57, Wisconsin 46

Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - Marshall Henderson scored 19 points and Ole Miss defeated Wisconsin, 57-46, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Henderson shot only 6-of-21 from the field, including 3-of-12 from behind the arc, for Ole Miss (27-8), which made its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2002.

"There's no question Marshall Mania affects the psyche of the other team," said Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy. "How can you avoid it? Marshall this, Marshall that. We live with Marshall Mania. So for us, it's normal, another day at the office."

Murphy Holloway had 10 points and had nine rebounds and Reginald Buckner scored nine points and grabbed 12 boards for the Rebels, who will face La Salle in a West Region third-round matchup on Sunday.

Sam Dekker scored 14 points off the bench for the Badgers (23-12), who made their 15th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and were coming off a loss to Ohio State in the Big Ten Tournament championship.

"I mean, we had looks," said Dekker. "We had the chances to pull away from this team. We were up four and six there a couple of times. We had chances."

Wisconsin had a 25-22 lead at halftime and held the advantage for the first 10-plus minutes of the second half, but then Ole Miss took control.

With the Rebels trailing, 39-36, Holloway finished consecutive inside scores to give Ole Miss a lead it would never relinquish over the last 8 1/2 minutes.

For the remainder of the game, Henderson, Holloway and Jarvis Summers would score all of the Rebels' points. Henderson had made just one shot prior to scoring 11 points in the final 5 1/2 minutes.

Meanwhile, the Badgers had difficulty shooting, making just 8-of-36 shots in the second half. In the final 6:52, the Badgers made just one field goal, a triple by Traevon Jackson with 3:10 to play.

Game Notes

Outside of Henderson, Ole Miss was 0-for-3 from behind the arc ... Wisconsin's bench outscored Ole Miss' bench 16-6 ... The Rebels claimed their first tourney win since 2001, when they reached the Sweet 16 ... Ole Miss' 27 wins ties the school record for most in a season.
