GAME NOTES: The Saint Peter's Peacocks hit the road as they again seek their first win of the season, clashing with the Kent State Golden Flashes in non- conference action at the MAC Center.

Saint Peter's, which will be visiting Fairleigh Dickinson next week before playing the next home game on the schedule versus Binghamton on Nov. 26, has come up empty in two games thus far. The team first bowed to LIU Brooklyn in the season opener, 87-80, and then tumbled versus Hampton, 64-59, earlier this week.

As for the Golden Flashes, they won their first two games of 2013-14 against Ohio Northern (84-48) and Temple (81-77), but then came up short versus Seton Hall on Wednesday night, 78-76, in New Jersey at the Prudential Center.

As far as the all-time series is concerned, the Golden Flashes have taken both previous encounters with Saint Peter's. The most recent battle took place two year ago, with KSU posting a 67-58 victory.

Against Hampton, the Peacocks held a seven-point advantage at the break thanks to a defense that limited the Pirates to a mere nine field goals through the first 20 minutes of action. However, in the second half it was Saint Peter's that had a hard time finding the basket with just eight total conversions, en route to the home setback. The Peacocks not only made just 2-of-12 behind the 3-point line, they are shot 21-of-32 at the free-throw line and turned the ball over 15 times. Chris Burke recorded a double-double with 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, followed by Marvin Dominique who dropped in 12 points and cleared seven boards.

While it is still far too early to get a true read on teams, the Peacocks seem to have found their scoring threat in Dominique who has produced not just 21.5 ppg but also pulled down 10.5 rpg to lead the Peacocks in that department as well. Desi Washington checks in with 11.5 ppg and Burke another 10.0 ppg, but this is a team being outscored by the competition by 6.0 ppg while shooting just 60.4 percent at the charity stripe.

Kris Brewer delivered 28 points for the Golden Flashes the last time out, shooting 9-of-12 from the floor overall and a perfect 4-of-4 beyond the arc, but still that effort was not enough as the team suffered the two-point setback versus Seton Hall. Also scoring in double figures was Khaliq Spicer with his 10 points, while no one else on the roster made more that three field goals as the team was outscored at the free-throw line by a 32-14 margin.

A 52.0 percent shooter from the floor, Brewer leads the team in scoring with 14.3 ppg, but right behind him is Derek Jackson who has turned in a 63.6 percent shooting performance from the field and 5-of-7 shooting behind the 3- point line to come up with 14.0 ppg. Generating 80.3, the Golden Flashes have done so by averaging less than nine turnovers per contest.

Considering the start to the season that the Peacocks have had, it would not be surprising to see Kent State remain undefeated in the series and come away with a double-digit win this time around.
