GAME NOTES: The North Texas Mean Green have won two consecutive games following a five-game losing skid, and they'll seek their third win in a row when they travel to face the Florida Atlantic Owls in Conference USA action at FAU Arena.

North Texas dropped five straight games from the end of January to a Feb. 13 matchup against Old Dominion. But last Saturday the Mean Green put a stop to that run with a win over East Carolina, and strung a pair of wins together by defeating FIU Thursday night, 65-63.

Florida Atlantic has lost two games in a row, and three of the team's last five matchups altogether. The Owls dropped a 71-52 decision to Tulsa Thursday, which set them back to 5-7 in the conference standings.

North Texas leads the brief all-time series against FAU, 7-3. This matchup on Saturday is the first and only time these teams will meet on the court during this regular season.

As the clock was winding down, North Texas' Chris Jones cut through the middle of the FIU defense and hit a runner that lifted the Mean Green to a two-point victory in Conference USA action. Jordan Williams led North Texas with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Alzee Williams became the 20th 1,000-point scorer in Mean Green history, adding 14 points in the game. Jones and Colin Voss chipped in 10 points apiece in the close victory.

Jordan Williams and Alzee Williams are the two top scorers this season for North Texas. Jordan leads the squad with a 12.2 ppg average on 40.8 percent shooting from the floor. Jordan is second in rebounding with 6.2 rpg, just behind Coss' 6.3 rpg mark. Alzee is netting 11.6 ppg this year, and Jones tops the Mean Green with 106 assists on the season.

Tulsa took a 34-18 lead into the intermission Thursday night against FAU, and never looked back, racing to a 19-point victory. D'Andre Johnson led the Owls in the loss with 12 points, while Marquan Botley chipped in 11 points and Pablo Bertone added 10 and nine rebounds. FAU shot just 31.3 percent from the floor in the contest.

Bertone's 10-point effort against Tulsa could be considered an off game, by his standards. He leads the Owls in scoring this season with 18.3 ppg on 43.3 percent shooting from the floor, and has a team-high 37 steals. Botley is second in scoring with 10.6 ppg, and adds a team-best 68 assists to his stat resume. Justin Raffington tops the squad with 9 rpg.

North Texas has a losing record on the road, but FAU is just too inconsistent when it comes to scoring and being able to stop an opposing offense. The Mean Green shouldn't have much trouble extending their two-game win streak.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: North Texas 67, Florida Atlantic 58
