GAME NOTES: The Campbell Fighting Camels and the North Carolina A&T Aggies will square off on Friday afternoon in the consolation round of the Global Sports Classic at the Thomas & Mack Arena in Las Vegas.

The winner will play either Jacksonville State or Northern Arizona in the final round on Saturday, with the losers also facing off against one another.

Prior to the tournament, Campbell won two of its first three games, with impressive victories over Averett (74-55) and Appalachian State (101-82). The Camels had to go on the road for the first two rounds of the Classic, and they dropped matchups to Iowa State (88-68) and Cincinnati (91-72) to fall into the consolation bracket.

NC A&T's season started off promising with an 83-52 win over Greensboro College. Since then however, the Aggies have dropped four in a row, but where Campbell has managed to keep its opening round matchups relatively competitive, the Aggies showed very little promise in losses to Cincinnati (93-39) and Iowa State (86-57).

The Aggies lead the all-time series over the Camels, 7-5, although Campbell won last year's matchup 94-66. The two campuses are separated by just 90 miles, but the teams will travel more than 2300 miles to square off in this neutral-court bout.

Campbell's offense looked impressive against a nationally-ranked Cincinnati squad, as it hit 47.5 percent of its field goals (including 5-of-11 from three-point range). The Camels allowed Cincinnati to make 50 percent of its shots overall however, and they were outscored at the foul line, 18 to 9. Doing all he could to keep his team in the game was Darren White, who tallied 22 points and seven rebounds. White's start of the season has been fantastic, as he is making an early run for Big South Player of the Year with 24.8 ppg and 7.8 rpg. Trey Freeman was also impressive the last time out, shooting 7- of-12 from the field while hitting all three of his shots from beyond the arc for 17 points. Freeman, who also added eight assists, is putting up 12.4 ppg and 6.6 apg. Darian Hooker (14.4 ppg) is also off to a nice start.

Since putting up 83 points on opening night, NC A&T hasn't scored more than 57 points in any of its last four games, and its effort against Iowa State the last time out was one of its worst to date. The Aggies made less than 30 percent of their field goals as they got down by as many as 38 points in the second half. Jean Louisme was the only player to tally double digit in points with 11 on 3-of-10 from the floor off the bench. Bruce Beckford recorded eight points and eight rebounds. There hasn't been much to brag about for A&T so far, as it is shooting only 32.2 percent from the field (including 20.2 percent from three-point range) and it has been outscored by nearly 15 points per game. Lamont Middleton has put up 11.6 ppg to lead the team, although he's made just 34.7 percent of his shots overall and his has more turnovers (13) than assists (11).

Neither team has performed the way they wanted to in this tournament, but they'll have their shot to redeem themselves in the consolation bracket. Campbell has been much more efficient and consistent than NC A&T in the early going, giving it the advantage.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Campbell 75, North Carolina A&T 65
