GAME NOTES: The Monmouth Hawks seek just their fourth road win, as they close out the regular season on Sunday with a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference meeting with the Siena Saints at the Times Union Center.

Monmouth finds itself near the bottom of the MAAC standings with a record of just 5-14, even though the team managed to snap a lengthy nine-game slide on Friday night with a 75-50 thumping of Niagara at home.

As for the Saints, a team which has already locked up the fifth spot in the upcoming MAAC Tournament, they are currently enjoying a three-game win streak thanks to a narrow 72-70 decision over Quinnipiac, the other new member to the league, on Thursday in Connecticut.

As Monmouth is one of the newest additions to the MAAC, this series has seen only four games previously, with each side taking a pair of decisions.

Against an overmatched Niagara squad, the Hawks worked hard at both ends of the floor to shoot 51.0 percent from the field and hold the visitors to 31.0 percent success overall and a mere 1-of-13 behind the 3-point line. Andrew Nicholas accounted for a game-high 27 points as he knocked down all but three of his 13 field goal tries, including 4-of-5 behind the 3-point line. Deon Jones chipped in 16 points and a game-high nine rebounds as well.

Over the course of 19 conference games, Jones has had the most success on offense of anyone on the Monmouth roster, producing 14.1 ppg. He is also the top threat on the glass with 7.4 rpg, helping to provide Monmouth with a slight edge in rebounding (plus-1.0 rpg). Nicholas checks in with 13.6 ppg, even though he has converted only 38.7 percent of his field goal tries versus the rest of the league.

In a game that saw 13 ties and 15 lead changes, Rob Poole and Lavon Long combined for five points down the stretch in order to help secure the two- point win against the Bobcats earlier this week. Poole finished with 15 points and Long another 13, but also playing a huge role in the win was Brett Bisping with his 14 points and 10 rebounds. Ryan Oliver accounted for another 11 points in 22 minutes off the bench.

Poole is responsible for 15.0 ppg on the season, thanks in part to his team- best 57 3-pointers on 152 attempts. As a team the Saints have converted only 131 triples over the course of 30 games, and yet the squad is still only being outscored by an average of just over two points per contest. Bisping adds another 10.1 ppg to the attack and is first on the glass with 6.2 rpg.

With their spot in the tournament already established, the Saints may take a different approach to today's meeting, but that doesn't mean Siena will simply roll over and accept defeat.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Siena 71, Monmouth 63
