GAME NOTES: The Seahawks of UNC Wilmington try to snap a two-game slide tonight as they take part in the annual BracketBusters event with a meeting against the Radford Highlanders at the Dedmon Center.

The Seahawks probably need a break from their Colonial Athletic Association schedule right about now, seeing as how the squad has a record of just 4-12 versus league foes. On Tuesday night, the team was topped by Northeastern at home in a 65-56 final, which means the Seahawks have won only once in their last seven outings.

As for the Highlanders, they are near the top of the Big South Conference standings heading into the weekend with 11 wins in 16 opportunities. The squad logged a 74-69 triumph over Liberty on the road on Tuesday night, giving them four wins in five tries.

With respect to the all-time series between these two schools on the hardwood, each team has won one of the previous two encounters.

Ahmad Grant shot 5-of-10 from the floor on Tuesday night as he finished with a team-best 11 points before fouling out, but the other four starters combined to make just eight field goals in the loss to Northeastern at Trask Coliseum. Keith Rendleman accounted for nine points and 10 rebounds and reserve Dominique Lacy seven points and eight boards before he logged his fifth personal. Back in the starting lineup earlier this week, Chad Tomko leads the team in scoring with his 13.5 ppg and is also tops with 114 assists and 42 steals, which might excuse the fact that he has shot only 39.4 percent from the floor. John Fields checks in with 10.2 ppg and a team-best 8.7 rpg, but his 50.4 percent shooting at the free-throw line is tough to swallow.

Radford erupted for 57.1 percent shooting from the floor in the second half and also made good on 16-of-28 at the free-throw line in the frame to put some distance between itself and the Liberty Flames on Tuesday at the Vines Center in Virginia. Art Parakhouski registered a double-double with 25 points and 13 rebounds, both of which led the Highlanders, while Lazar Trifunovic and Joey Lynch-Flohr responded with 13 and 10 points, respectively. Amir Johnson posted nine points and eight of the group's 23 assists. Parakhouski, who has been a double-double machine this season, has been putting up incredible numbers on a consistent basis with 21.6 ppg and a staggering 13.2 rpg, the latter placing him among the nation's elite. Trifunovic (13.8 ppg, 8.4 rpg) and Lynch-Flohr (12.4 ppg, 6.7 rpg) help to make Radford one of the most dominant rebounding programs in the nation with better than 43 per game.

With the inside play that the front line of the Highlanders bring to the floor every night, there's little chance UNCW will figure out a way to offset all of that pressure in the paint.
