At halftime the Huskies held a 26-24 lead after shooting just 37 percent from the floor. The Spartans were unable to take advantage, collecting just eight field goals in the period.

After the break San Jose State again struggled, making good on just 8-of-19 shots from the floor. The Huskies never led by more than six points in the second half but a 14-of-18 effort from the free-throw line allowed them to escape with the win.
