GAME NOTES: The Georgetown Hoyas will look to keep rolling along tonight when they visit the Dunkin' Donuts Center to take on the Providence Friars in a Big East Conference matchup.

Georgetown has won three straight and nine of its last 10 contests overall, including Saturday's 77-60 triumph over St. John's. However, the Hoyas lost their only true road game of the season thus far, an 88-64 setback at nationally-ranked Kansas on Dec. 21.

Providence has won seven of its eight home games this season. However, the lone loss came against Seton Hall on New Year's Eve as part of the Friars' current three-game losing streak. Most recently, they were dealt a lopsided 91-61 loss at eighth-ranked Villanova over the weekend.

Georgetown has won the last eight meetings with Providence and leads the all- time series, 43-19.

Georgetown's D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera knocked down 6-of-7 3-pointers en route to a season-high 31 points in Saturday's win over St. John's. The sophomore guard scored 20 of those points in the first half as the Hoyas jumped out to a 26-8 lead and then took a 42-16 cushion into the break, as Smith-Rivera outscored the Red Storm by himself in the opening frame. Backcourt mate Markel Starks finished with 12 points for the Hoyas, who shot 56.1 percent from the floor as a team and made 9-of-13 threes. Smith-Rivera, a 48-percent 3-point shooter on the season, is averaging a team-best 17.1 ppg, while Starks (16.0 ppg) and Joshua Smith (11.5 ppg) are also averaging double figures.

The Friars boast the Big East's second-leading scorer in Bryce Cotton, who is putting up 20.2 ppg. Of course, he has also gotten plenty of help from his supporting cast, as fellow starters Tyler Harris (13.8 ppg, 5.3 rpg), LaDontae Henton (12.7 ppg, 7.3 rpg) and Kadeem Batts (12.0 ppg, 6.9 rpg). Providence has utilized its size advantage to a +5.1 rebounding margin on the season. However, there simply were not many boards to clean up against Villanova, as the Wildcats shot a sizzling 60 percent from the floor and made 14-of-26 threes for the game. PC trailed 50-26 at the half and was never able to recover. Cotton finished with a team-high 25 points to go along with six assists and six rebounds, but the Friars will no doubt need to clean up their defensive rotations, particularly along the perimeter, heading into this matchup.

While both of these teams have enjoyed heavy home schedules in the early going, the road is about to get tougher as they get into their Big East slates. Georgetown has done a better job navigating its conference schedule thus far, and the Hoyas should be able to win this one as long as they keep Cotton from going off.
