GAME NOTES: Having already locked up the top seed for the upcoming Southern Conference Tournament, the Davidson Wildcats likely have revenge on their minds heading into a Saturday evening matchup against the Elon Phoenix.

Elon handed Davidson it's only loss in conference play this season, an 87-85 overtime decision back on Jan. 16. The loss was also the last setback for the Wildcats, who have run off 11 straight wins since that defeat.

Davidson's most recent win came on Thursday, a 79-46 dismantling of UNC- Greensboro. Brian Sullivan scored 19 points as Davidson clinched the SoCon regular season title for the third straight year and 10th time in 13 seasons. De'Mon Brooks added 16 points and nine rebounds for the Wildcats, who improved to 18-11 overall and 14-1 in the conference play.

Brooks leads the Davidson attack with 18.2 ppg and 6.9 rpg. Sullivan added 13.1 ppg for the Wildcats, who average nearly 78 ppg as a team and have dominated opponents all season. Of Davidson's 14 conference wins, only two have been by single digits and its average margin of victory is 16 ppg.

Elon comes into tonight's tilt off a disappointing 63-59 home setback to the Wofford Terriers. The loss dropped the Phoenix into a three-way tie for second place in the SoCon standings with Wofford and Chattanooga with just this last regular season game to play.

Lucas Troutman paced Elon, which fell to 18-12 overall and 11-4 in the SoCon, with 23 points, eight rebounds and four blocks. The loss also snapped an eight-game winning streak for the Phoenix, who had previously secured a first- round bye in the conference tournament as they will finish among the top five teams.

Troutman is Elon's leading scorer this season with 16.2 ppg and leading rebounder with 6.4 rpg. The Phoenix average 75.3 ppg.

In the first game between these two schools earlier this season, Elon went on a 15-2 run late in the second half to force overtime and then jumped out to a four-point lead and eventually held on to win for the first time at Belk Arena and end Davidson's 23-game home winning streak against conference foes. Jack Isenbarger proved to be the hero yet again for the maroon and gold, as his 3-pointer with 2.4 seconds left in regulation tied it at 76-76 and gave Elon momentum heading into overtime.

Troutman scored a career-high 28 points on 11-of-21 shooting to go along with a career-best 12 rebounds to pace the Phoenix, while Brooks ended the night with 28 points and 10 boards before fouling out in overtime for the Wildcats.

It's hard to get a good read on this game. Elon is definitely playing for more, but Davidson needs to win this game to prove that the Phoenix don't have their number heading into the conference tournament. The late rally in the first game was most likely a fluke and Davidson should control this game and prove that it is the team to beat heading into the tournament.
