GAME NOTES: The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors pay a visit to Walter Pyramid tonight for a Big West Conference clash with the 49ers of Long Beach State.

Hawaii has won four of its last five games, including an 86-77 triumph over UC Davis this past Saturday. The Warriors entered the week in fourth place in the conference standings, a half-game back of Long Beach State and 1 1/2 games behind UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara with three to play.

Long Beach State has been idle since last Thursday's 79-57 road win at UC Davis, which marked the team's third win in its last four outings. The 49ers have three regular-season games remaining following this one, and they'll hit the road to face Cal State Fullerton and Cal State Northridge over the next week.

LBSU extended its lead in the all-time series to 8-6 with a 92-83 victory over the Warriors in the first meeting in Honolulu on Jan. 30. The 49ers shot 60 percent from the floor in that contest.

Two days after shooting a dreadful 29 percent from the floor and putting up a season-low 56 points against UC Irvine, Hawaii shot 57 percent and piled up 86 points in its win over UC Davis. Christian Standhardinger and Isaac Fotu both recorded double-doubles -- Standhardinger tallied 29 points and 11 rebounds, while Fotu finished with 18 points and 11 boards for his second double-double in as many games. Garrett Nevels added 13 points and Brandon Spearman scored 10 for the Warriors, who drained nine of their first 11 shots from the field and never looked back. On the season, Standhardinger is averaging a team-best 17.8 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Fotu, a 60.3 percent shooter from the floor, is putting up 15.7 ppg and 6.4 rpg, while Nevels (13.9 ppg) and Spearman (11.3 ppg) round out the team's double-digit scorers.

Leading the way for LBSU is the guard tandem of Mike Caffey and Tyler Lamb. Caffey is posting 16.4 ppg and 4.3 rpg this season after earning All-Big West honors last year as a sophomore. Lamb, a junior transfer from UCLA, is hot on his heels with 15.3 ppg. He has scored in double figures in 13 of the 16 games he's played since becoming eligible on Dec. 19. Down low, Dan Jennings is averaging 10.0 points and a team-best 8.1 rebounds per tilt. In their most recent game, the 49ers pulled away from UC Davis thanks to a 14-2 second-half run. It was a total team effort as they connected on 10-of-18 3-pointers (.556) and shot better than 50 percent from the floor for the second straight game (.554). A.J. Spencer finished with 14 points to pace four players in double figures for LBSU.

Hawaii is seeking a fifth road win for the first time in program history, and it is also looking for its first 20-win season since 2003-04. However, the 49ers won the season's first meeting in Honolulu, and they should be able to take the rematch on their home floor.
