GAME NOTES: The Nebraska Omaha Mavericks have lost two games in a row, and they'll look to get back in the win column when they travel to face the South Dakota Coyotes in a Summit League clash at the DakotaDome.

The two-game skid for Nebraska Omaha is following a three-game win streak. Still, the Mavericks are just 4-6 in conference play this season and have a lot of catching up to do to catch conference leader North Dakota State. The Mavericks are coming off a 75-59 loss to the very Bison who are leading the conference.

South Dakota ended a two-game losing streak with a victory over IUPUI Saturday, 71-67. The Coyotes have still lost six of their last eight games, and find themselves sitting on a 4-6 record in Summit League play, tied with Nebraska Omaha.

South Dakota leads the all-time series with the Mavericks, 51-44. The lead was shortened though, when Nebraska Omaha won the earlier head-to-head matchup this season in Omaha, 77-73.

Nebraska Omaha ended a four-game homestand with the loss to North Dakota State on Saturday. The Mavericks were held to just 59 points in the contest - their lowest scoring total this season - and shot 31.7 percent from the floor. John Karhoff led the Mavericks with 16 points in the game, shooting 7-of-18 from the field. C.J. Carter chipped in 12 points, hitting 5-of-6 from the free- throw line. Omaha hit just 3-of-18 from 3-point range in the loss.

Carter and Karhoff share the spotlight this season for Nebraska Omaha, leading the team in scoring with 13.5 ppg each. Karhoff, the big man, connects on 50.4 percent of his shots from the floor, while Carter leads the team with 92 assists on the year. Devin Patterson is netting 10.5 ppg, and Justin Simmons chips in 10.4 ppg. Mike Rostampour tops the Mavericks in rebounding with 6.5 rpg.

South Dakota went into the locker room at the intermission knotted with IUPUI, 32-32. But the Coyotes came out in the second half a bit more fired up on the road, edging the Jaguars, 39-35, in the second frame for the four-point win. Trevor Gruis scored 18 points to pace the Coyotes, adding six rebounds to his stat line. Tyler Larson chipped in 15 point, Tyler Flack scored 12 and Trey Norris contributed 10 with a team-high six assists in the win.

Gruis, who recorded his 1,300th career point versus IUPUI on Saturday, and his 18 points scored improved his already team-leading scoring average. Gruis notches 12.5 ppg this season on 55.5 percent shooting, adding a team-best 6.3 rpg with 35 blocked shots - good for second. Brandon Bos is second in scoring with 11.8 ppg, and Norris is third at 8.4 ppg. Norris leads the team with 107 assists and 32 steals on the year.

South Dakota narrowly escaped IUPUI Saturday, which was still ugly against the 6-22 Jaguars. Nebraska Omaha is capable of traveling to Vermillion and defeating the home Coyotes, but will need a solid performance from Karhoff, Carter and good all-around play from the rest of the unit.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Nebraska Omaha 67, South Dakota 61
