GAME NOTES: A couple of Patriot League programs gain some national exposure on Tuesday night, as the Colgate Raiders entertain the Holy Cross Crusaders at Cotterell Court.

Producing a 4-2 record through the first six games of the season, Colgate has since won just four more outings and is just 2-8 in conference bouts. The team last took the floor on Saturday afternoon versus Bucknell and was dealt a 79-68 setback by the Bison, the third loss in the last four games for the program.

While Colgate is tied for second-to-last in the Patriot standings entering the week, the Crusaders are a little better off with a 6-4 mark that has them alone in fourth place. The second half of January was quite rewarding for the Crusaders as they rattled off five straight victories, but then February came along and American put an end to the good times with a 63-57 victory on Saturday.

With respect to the all-time series between these two schools on the hardwood, the Crusaders are up by a count of 55-20. Holy Cross won the first meeting of the season last month at home, 73-64, as six players scored in double figures. Dave Dudzinski led the way with 16 points and eight rebounds, while Austin Tillotson paced Colgate with a game-high 20 points and six assists in the setback.

If you think it is impossible to shoot 60 percent from the field and still come up on the losing end of a contest, just take a look at the Holy Cross box score from Saturday. The team knocked down 65.0 percent from the floor in the second half along, but was doomed when the Eagles converted 12-of-13 at the free-throw line. Malcolm Miller tallied 14 points, Justin Burrell 13 and Anthony Thompson 12 points for the visitors in the losing cause.

Although he was held to single digits by American, Dudzinski still leads the team in scoring overall this season with 15.2 ppg and is also tops with 7.5 rpg as well. However, for someone who handles the ball as much as he does, Dudzinski really needs to cut down on his turnovers (47), even if he doesn't give his assists (14) a boost. Miller checks in with 10.1 ppg and 5.0 rpg and has been able to help out teammates with 47 dishes.

Colgate found out why Bucknell has been one of the premier teams in the Patriot for so many years as the Bison turned the ball over a mere four times in their meeting over the weekend. The Raiders did lead by six early in the first half, but then saw a 21-point swing that eventually led to the 11-point home loss, even as Murphy Burnatowski tallied 20 points for the hosts. Damon Sherman-Newsome accounted for 12 points and Austin Tillotson 11, the latter responsible for half the team's eight assists as well.

Burnatowski is one of four players scoring in double figures on the season for the Raiders with his 14.3 ppg, although it may be Tillotson who grabs more of the spotlight with his 13.1 ppg, stemming from 58.3 percent shooting from the floor and 49.0 percent accuracy beyond the arc, not to mention his 91 assists. Luke Roh (6.1 ppg) may not garner as much attention because of his scoring, but he is still a heavy contributor with 5.7 rpg and 70 dishes in his 21 starts.

Colgate has the added incentive of revenge for this meeting, but that won't matter if Holy Cross is able to balance the scoring sheet as well as it did in the first matchup last month.
