GAME NOTES: The Tulane Green Wave look to bounce back as they invade Bartow Arena for a Conference USA bout against the UAB Blazers.

Tulane was dismantled on Thursday by Middle Tennessee in Murfreesboro as it fell, 71-44, to the Blue Raiders. The loss ended the Green Wave's two-game winning streak and dropped them to 5-5 conference record, which pits them in a four-way tie for seventh place with Charlotte, FIU and Florida Atlantic. Coach Ed Conroy's team has been stagnant offensively this season en route to a mere 64.6 ppg, which is the second lowest average among C-USA schools. Tulane is in the middle of the pack defensively with an allowance of 70.3 ppg.

While Tulane struggled in Tennessee on Thursday, the Blazers snapped a three- game losing streak with a surprising 84-60 rout of the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, who entered the tilt with just one C-USA loss. Despite the victory, UAB has been disappointing since entering the league portion of its schedule with only four wins in 10 outings. Coach Jerod Haase's team showed it is capable of much more during its non-conference slate with victories over Nebraska, North Carolina and Chattanooga. The Blazers' primary strength is their ability to rebound. They have pulled down 50 total boards or more in eight games and rank second among Division I schools with 45.5 rpg.

This will be the 37th meeting in history between Tulane and UAB. The Blazers have come out of the last 10 encounters victorious and hold a 24-12 all-time series lead.

The Green Wave lost by 27 to Middle Tennessee despite a strong showing from freshman guard Jonathan Stark, who tallied 15 points and six rebounds in the contest. Sophomore guard Louis Dabney, who nets a team-high 16.5 ppg, was held to just nine points on 3-of-14 efficiency from the floor. Although Stark made half of his 10 field-goal attempts, his teammates combined to shoot just 25 percent from the floor including a 4-of-16 clip from 3-point range. Stark is Tulane's second leading scorer at 15 ppg, while junior guard Jay Hook is chipping in 14 ppg.

UAB is also led by a trio of scorers in double figures. Junior guard Chad Frazier is pacing the Blazers with 18.2 points per contest, while junior forward C.J. Washington (14.3) and senior forward Rod Rucker (11.2). All three played a big part in UAB's dominant performance versus USM. Frazier registered a double-double with 20 points and 10 assists, Washington scored a game-high 21 points and Rucker finished with 13 points and five boards. Frazier and Washington knocked down four shots from beyond the arc apiece as UAB went 11- of-23 from 3-point range as a unit.

The Blazers have enough talent to be at the top of the C-USA standings. UAB has played very well at home with 12 wins in 14 games at Bartow Arena and have dominated Tulane in recent history. The Green Wave are as unpredictable as they come, but they will definitely have a difficult time outrebounding UAB.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: UAB 78, Tulane 63
