GAME NOTES: The Northwestern Wildcats welcome the Nebraska Cornhuskers to Welsh-Ryan Arena this afternoon for a Big Ten Conference matchup.

Nebraska enters the contest looking to rebound from a lopsided 79-50 road loss to 10th-ranked Michigan on Wednesday. That outcome continued a season-long trend of extreme home-and-road splits for the Cornhuskers, who are 10-1 in Lincoln, but are winless in seven tries as the visiting team.

Northwestern has been idle since last Saturday's 55-54 win at Minnesota, which marked the team's third straight Big Ten road victory. The Wildcats have won four of their last five games overall.

Nebraska leads the all-time series, 4-2, and that includes a 64-49 win over the Wildcats when these teams met up last January in Lincoln.

The Cornhuskers allowed Michigan to knock down 13 3-pointers, nine of which came in the first half as the Wolverines jumped out to an early 13-3 lead and never looked back. Nebraska trailed by a 49-21 margin at the break, thanks to a 62.5 percent shooting effort from the floor by the Wolverines. Guard Shavon Shields finished a team-high 13 points in the loss for the Huskers, who shot just 35.2 percent as a team. Nathan Hawkins and Walter Pitchford added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Leading scorer Terran Petteway was just 2-of-10 from the floor and finished with nearly as many turnovers (4) as points (5). On the season, Petteway averages 17.5 ppg and 5.1 rpg while shooting 46 percent from the field and 38 percent from the perimeter. Shields (11.1 ppg, 5.4 rpg) is the only other Cornhusker averaging double figures.

Northwestern senior Drew Crawford is the reigning Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week, as he averaged 23.5 points and 6.5 rebounds while shooting 66.7 percent in two road wins last week. He scored a season-high 30 points at nationally-ranked Wisconsin last Wednesday, then followed that up with a game- high 17 points in the win over Minnesota. Crawford continues to lead NU in both scoring (16.3 ppg) and rebounding (6.8 rpg) and is the Big Ten's only player to rank in the top-10 in the conference in both categories. In the narrow win over Wisconsin last weekend, it was Tre Demps (10.7 ppg) who knocked down the deciding 3-pointer from the corner with less than a minute to play. Crawford led the way with 17 points in that game, followed by JerShon Cobb (11.4 ppg, 4.9 rpg) with 15, and Demps with 11 off the bench.

Nebraska won handily when these teams last faced each other just over a year ago. However, the Cornhuskers' road woes have been well documented, while the Wildcats have picked up some steam of late.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Northwestern 69, Nebraska 62
