GAME NOTES: A pair of teams sporting identical conference records square off on Sunday when the Monmouth Hawks battle the Saint Peter's Peacocks at the Yanitelli Center.

Monmouth has been headed in the wrong direction recently, with losses in four straight contests. The run of futility has dropped the Hawks to 10-14 overall and to 4-9 in conference. They will finish off a three-game road trip in their next bout against Iona on Friday.

Saint Peter's pulled itself out of a rut of its own on Friday with a 66-53 win over Siena. The victory ended a five-game losing streak for the Peacocks, who have an inferior overall record (8-14) compared to Monmouth, but the same ledger against the rest of the MAAC (4-9). They will visit Iona as well in their next outing on Wednesday.

This is the first meeting between conference newcomer Monmouth and Saint Peter's since 2009, when the Peacocks claimed a 58-34 victory. Saint Peter's leads the all-time series, 19-8, although the teams have traded decisions in the last six contests.

Monmouth dropped a 60-56 decision to Fairfield on Friday to extend its losing streak. The Hawks only connected on 34.5 percent of their shots from the floor, while turning the ball over 17 times. Andrew Nicholas scored 16 points, but also turned the ball over seven times in the loss.

The Hawks are not an overly impressive offensive team, ranking seventh in the MAAC in scoring (70.6 ppg), assists (12.1 apg) and field goal percentage (.418). Nicholas (!4.2 ppg) and Deon Jones (14.9 ppg, 6.8 rpg) are the only real threats offensively, with no other player on the roster putting in more than 8.2 ppg. Jones, who also leads the team on the glass, finished with 10 points on a 4-of-12 shooting effort against Fairfield. Justin Robinson (8.2 ppg) and Josh James (8.2 ppg) have shown promise, but the duo combined for just 13 points on 5-of-12 from the floor on Friday.

Desi Washington scored 18 points and Marvin Dominique (17 points, 12 rebounds) posted a double-double to carry Saint Peter's over Siena. The Peacocks limited the Saints to 38.6 percent shooting, while outscoring them 28-18 in the paint.

Saint Peter's is not nearly the offensive team that even Monmouth is, as the Peacocks are next-to-last in the MAAC in both scoring (63.7 ppg) and field goal percentage (.396), while producing the fewest assists (9.8 apg) in the league. Dominique (17.1 ppg, 8.8 rpg) is a strong performer on the interior for the Peacocks, ranking among the top-10 in the conference in scoring and rebounding. Washington (13.1 ppg) also lends a hand, but he is not a consistent shooter, netting just 35.9 percent from the floor. There is little firepower from there, with Trevis Wyche (8.7 ppg) the next best option.

Although they don't score much, the Peacocks are solid defensively, limiting foes to 67.5 ppg. If they can keep to that kind of success on Sunday they should be able to produce another victory.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Saint Peter's 68, Monmouth 63
