GAME NOTES: After having their recent five-game win streak broken, the Saint Joseph's Hawks try to get back on track tonight when they face George Mason at the Patriot Center.

On Wednesday, the Hawks fell at nationally-ranked UMass, 66-62, in their Atlantic 10 opener. The Hawks squandered a late four-point lead, but Halil Kanacevic poured in 19 points and tallied 13 boards and six assists in the loss. Langston Galloway scored 18 and DeAndre' Bembry added 16 for St. Joe's.

The Hawks are also dealing with injuries. Senior forward Ronald Roberts Jr. sat out most of the second half of the UMass contest due to back spasms, leaving his playing status in doubt for tonight's tilt. If Roberts can't play, then junior Papa Ndao will likely step in his place. Sophomore forward Isaiah Miles, who missed the UMass game due to a concussion, is slated to miss tonight's contest. SJU head coach Phil Martelli used only seven players in the rotation due to the injuries.

The Hawks have three players averaging double figures, led by Galloway (17.0 ppg). He is 17 3-pointers shy of tying the team's all-time leader, Pat Carroll (2001-05), who made 294 from beyond the arc. If Roberts (14.6 ppg, 7.4 rpg) can't play, it will be a huge loss for the Hawks as he's shooting a team-best 56.4 percent from the field. That's among the top-10 in the conference. Bembry (10.9 ppg), Kanacevic (9.8 ppg, 8.2 rpg), and Chris Wilson (9.4 ppg) are also part of the starting lineup on a team that has the second-worst free-throw percentage (.653) in the A-10, this despite Galloway converting a team-high 82.4 percent of his foul shots.

The Patriots have lost back-to-back games, including Thursday's 71-57 setback at VCU. Bryon Allen netted 13 points but had four turnovers. Patrick Holloway added 11 points off the bench and Jalen Jenkins finished with a double-double (10 points, 12 rebounds). It was the first career start for Jenkins, a redshirt freshman forward.

Allen (14.0 ppg) and Sherrod Wright (13.4 ppg) pace the offense for the Patriots, who at 65.7 ppg are the lowest-scoring team in the A-10. On the positive side, they're limiting teams to 28.6 percent from 3-point range. Wright matched his career-high in free throws made by going 14-for-18 at VCU. Holloway is making 43.1 percent from beyond the arc, which is sixth-best in the conference.

This will be the first home A-10 game for the Patriots, who departed the Colonial Athletic Association last year. The Patriots could take advantage of a shorthanded Hawks squad by controlling the boards in Roberts' absence. If Holloway can knock down some long-distance shots, George Mason may get its maiden A-10 win.
