GAME NOTES: The Harvard Crimson welcome the Dartmouth Big Green to Lavietes Pavilion on Saturday afternoon in what marks the Ivy League opener for both teams.

Dartmouth holds a 94-82 lead over Harvard in the all-time series, although the Crimson have won each of the last eight meetings.

Harvard comes into this matchup riding a 16-game home winning streak. However, the Crimson are looking to rebound from Wednesday's 61-56 road loss at Connecticut, which snapped the team's nine-game win streak overall. Its only other loss this season came at Colorado back in November.

Meanwhile, Dartmouth has followed up a four-game win streak by dropping each of its last two contests to settle for a 2-2 split of a four-game homestand. After falling by a 62-53 margin to Vermont last weekend, the Big Green were dealt a 68-56 setback by Hartford this past Tuesday. Following this tilt, they'll get a week off before heading to St. John's next Saturday in the team's final non-conference game.

The Big Green have seen their shooting go cold as they have failed to eclipse 40 percent from the field in each of their last two games. Prior to those losses, they had shot 40 percent or better in every game this season. Dartmouth was particularly inefficient from long range as it connected on only 3-of-14 attempts (.214). Alex Mitola had a team-high 13 points in the loss, while Gabas Maldunas and Connor Boehm scored 12 and 11 points, respectively. The Big Green have been at their best when they are crashing the boards, and they bring a +7.5 rebounding margin into this tilt. On the season, Boehm leads the team with 11.4 ppg to go along with 6.0 rpg. Mitola is next in line with 11.0 ppg, while Maldunas is averaging 10.7 ppg and a team-best 8.7 rpg.

Harvard is +5.1 in rebounding margin thanks to the likes of Wesley Saunders (15.7 ppg) and Kyle Casey (11.8 ppg), who have combined to average a dozen boards per contest. Siyani Chambers is also averaging double figures (11.7 ppg) and is shooting at a 41-percent clip from beyond the arc (28-of-68). The Crimson hung tough on the road at UConn earlier this week and were down by only three with the ball and 10.1 seconds remaining in regulation. But the Huskies came away with a big steal on that final possession to seal the outcome. The loss spoiled another strong effort by Chambers, who knocked down 5-of-7 3-pointers and scored 11 of his game-high 21 points in the second half. However, his teammates combined to shoot just 28.8 percent from the floor.

The Crimson have been impressive throughout the season's early going, but they are simply not built for one player to handle the scoring load on a given night. Look for Harvard to put forth a more balanced effort on its home court and get back in the win column as they seek another conference crown.
