NCAA Game Summary - Kentucky at Missouri

(Saturday, February 1st)

Final Score: (11) Kentucky 84, Missouri 79

Columbia, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - Aaron Harrison scored 21 points and James Young added 20 as No. 11 Kentucky defeated Missouri, 84-79, on Saturday.

Julius Randle finished with 18 points and nine rebounds for the Wildcats (16-5, 6-2 SEC), who bounced back from an 87-82 loss to LSU on Tuesday.

"You can't emphasize everything with these guys. We talked to them about passion and intensity," Kentucky coach John Calipari said. "I love the fight from this team. I love the emotion and enthusiasm they played with today."

Jabari Brown had a career-high 33 points and Jordan Clarkson added 28 for Missouri (16-5, 4-4), which had its two-game winning streak snapped.

"Obviously Kentucky deserves a lot of credit -- they played well," Missouri coach Frank Haith said. "I thought our guys competed for 40 minutes and obviously they made more plays than we did to win the game."

Wes Clark's jumper cut the Missouri deficit to two, 28-26, and Kentucky proceeded to go on a 12-2 run. Andrew Harrison, who finished with 14 points, scored seven points during the spurt and capped it with a 3-pointer to push Kentucky's lead to 40-28 with 1:42 left in the first half.

Clarkson scored the final four points of the half for the Tigers and Missouri trailed 42-32 at halftime.

Young scored eight points during a 10-4 run to stretch Kentucky's lead to 56-41 just before the first media timeout of the second half. Missouri then went on a 21-7 run that Brown closed with an emphatic dunk. Brown scored the final nine points of the burst to trim the deficit to 66-63.

Randle made a tough running jumper after a pair of free throws from Andrew Harrison to push the lead to 70-63 with 6 1/2 minutes left.

Brown buried a deep 3 with 1:29 remaining, was fouled, and hit the free throw to make it a three-point game, 78-75.

Andrew Harrison made a layup with 19 seconds left to make it 82-77, and Alex Poythress blocked Clarkson's jumper at the other end. Aaron Harrison made a pair at the charity stripe on the ensuing possession to seal it for the Wildcats.
