GAME NOTES: The Division II New Orleans Privateers will try to take down the San Diego Toreros in the Hoops for Hope Classic this evening at the Fogelman Arena.

New Orleans is riding a three-game win streak, as it took down Selma, Southeastern and Tennessee-Temple in its last three outings. The Privateers opened the season with lop-sided losses to New Mexico and Rice, but they hope to find success against Division I foes here in this event. New Orleans is averaging 62.2 points per contest while shooting 34.8 percent from the floor. The Privateers are allowing their opponents to score 71.8 points per game with a field goal shooting effort of 47.6 percent.

San Diego is 2-1 after dropping a 73-60 decision to Montana in its last outing. The Toreros took down Stephen F. Austin and San Diego Christian in their first two contests. San Diego is shooting 45.3 percent from the floor to average 71.7 points per game. The Toreros are allowing opponents to shoot 50.7 percent from the floor but are holding them to 65.7 points per game.

San Diego played New Orleans during only once, in its last season of Division II play in 1978. The Privateers won the game 76-67.

New Orleans has a deep rotation as ten players are averaging double-digit minutes. Lovell Cook leads the team in scoring with 10.2 points per game. Antonio Wertz is chipping in 8.6 points per game while pulling down a team- high 6.2 rebounds per contest. Generra Varmall has been pesky on the defensive end as he has already tallied 20 steals this season.

San Diego has been led by Darrian Norris. The senior guard has been putting points on the board as he is scoring 18 points per outing. Chris Manresa is providing interior offense with 14.7 points per game while pulling down 10.7 rebounds per contest.

New Orleans has struggled against Division I opponents this year. It will take an unbelievable performance by the Privateers in this one to pull off the upset.
