GAME NOTES: Already locked in as the sixth seed for the upcoming Western Athletic Conference Tournament, the Idaho Vandals take the floor in their final regular season game as they host the Seattle Redhawks at the Cowan Spectrum on Saturday night.

The Vandals have been out of action for a week now, last facing off against Texas State on the road last Saturday -- a 90-81 victory over the Bobcats. The win was the second in the last three games for Idaho, but still the team has won a total of just six league bouts.

As for the Redhawks, they stepped out of conference for a moment three nights ago in order to host Cal State Bakersfield, and unfortunately Seattle was taken out in a 75-74 overtime event. The setback was the seventh in the last eight outings for a Seattle team which is currently alone in last place in the WAC with a record of 3-14.

These two teams kicked off the conference slate against each other near the end of December, with the Vandals posting a 71-64 win on the road at Key Arena, which means the lead for the Redhawks is now down to just a single game in the all-time series at 14-13.

In a game that featured seven ties and 10 lead changes, Seattle led by as many as six points in the first half before heading to overtime and coming up short. Chad Rasmussen was the top scorer for the hosts with 13 points, followed by Louis Green and Prince Obasi with 11 and 10 points, respectively. The Redhawks outscored CSUB 21-6 at the free-throw line, but even that was not enough to keep the home team out of the loss column.

Rasmussen, the leading scorer for Seattle in each of the last three outings, accounts for 9.4 ppg thanks to his team-best 63 3-pointers, but while he is connecting on perimeter shots at a respectable 35.2 percent clip, his overall accuracy from the floor is just 35.8 percent. Clarence Trent is the lone double-digit scorer for the group with 10.1 ppg as they put up 65.6 ppg.

Just like the Redhawks in their most recent outing, Idaho also held a distinctive advantage at the free-throw line versus Texas State last weekend, 24-11, but in the case of the Vandals that was more than enough to get them into the win column. Kyle Barone tallied 26 points and cleared 14 rebounds, Connor Hill chipped in with 22 points and Stephen Madison 20, followed by Mansa Habeeb with 13 points as the starting five for Idaho accounted for all but two of their 90 points on the afternoon in San Marcos.

Shooting almost 59 percent from the floor at the moment, Barone not only leads the team in scoring with 16.8 ppg, he is also tops on the glass with 9.8 rpg as well. Because of his efforts on the boards, the Vandals hold a rebounding margin of more than five per game versus the competition. Madison and Hill put up 14.9 and 11.9 ppg, respectively, the latter shooting 45.1 percent beyond the arc where he has made a team-best 79 shots.

Seattle, which can finish anywhere from eighth to 10th in the standings, hasn't had much luck on the road this season and seeing as how the Vandals have enjoyed plenty of rest, the Redhawks will be hard-pressed to land in the win column this weekend.
