Towson, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Jerrelle Benimon scored 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds as the Towson Tigers held off the Drexel Dragons for a 75-73 victory in a Colonial Athletic Association battle at SECU Arena.

Rafriel Guthrie netted 18 points for the Tigers (14-8, 5-2 CAA). Marcus Damas chipped in 16 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor.

Drexel (11-10, 3-5) suffered its third setback in four games despite a strong showing from Frantz Massenat, who tallied 18 points, six rebounds and five assists. Tavon Allen contributed 17 points while Kazembe Abif posted 16 points and eight boards. Chris Fouch finished 3-of-13 from the field for 10 points, which he accompanied with four assists.

Towson took a 33-30 lead into the intermission after it shot an even 50 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes of the contest. The Dragons stayed close despite making only 1-of-9 attempts from 3-point range in the first half.

Drexel was limited to just 40 percent efficiency from the floor in the second stanza, but also converted 16-of-22 tries at the charity stripe. The Tigers made good on 12-of-18 field goal attempts and sank 17-of-20 tries at the free- throw line after the break to hang on for the decision. Four McGlynn made a pair of clutch free-throw attempts with seven seconds left to give Towson a five-point lead before Abif connected on a shot from beyond the arc just before the buzzer.

The Dragons, who lost to Towson by 12 points in Philadelphia on Jan. 14, assisted 13 of their 24 made field goal attempts. Drexel also finished the contest with a 32-27 edge in total rebounds and a 33-20 advantage in bench scoring.
